Day 4 of National Midwifery Week…..Did you know that our midwives, Marinda and Laura, have a few things in common other than being CNMs. They both: attended ECU for midwifery school (the only nurse midwifery school in NC), are dog moms, love plants, and love to find awesome thrifted items!

Day 3 of national midwifery week…On this date more than a few years ago our midwife, Laura, birthed her own baby. The gender was a surprise … “it’s a boy” and he weighed 7lbs14oz. She was in midwifery school at ECU and an RN in L&D at this time. 🥰

Meditation is one of the simplest and most powerful tools you can bring into the birth space. It helps quiet the noise around you so you can stay grounded, present, and connected to your body as labor unfolds.

You do not need to be an expert or have a perfect routine. Meditation can look like closing your eyes and focusing on your breath. It can be repeating a calming word, listening to music, or simply staying aware of each moment as it comes.
At Ohana Midwifery & Wellness, we often talk about meditation as a way to soften into the process. It is not about controlling what happens. It is about finding your center so you can move through each contraction with trust. Your breath, your thoughts, your rhythm. They all belong in the birth room with you.
