Our Wellness participants took part in SGU’s Bison Harvest this morning. Lisa and Arlo Iron Cloud and TJ Heinert shared a lot of valuable information about the harvesting process and the about the Buffalo. 🦬 So honored we were apart of reclaiming our cultural and traditional ways! Pilamayaye to everyone involved today.

Our Wellness Participants attended a Presentation on the Medicinal Plants of Our Oyate today at Sinte Gleska University. Jacqueline White Bird and Charlotte Walking Eagle shared their information and stories on the plants our people used for generations. They talked about how to properly harvest them and how to appropriately use them. They also shared a traditional meal of buffalo stew, chokecherry wojapi, and frybread. Pilamayaye!

The Wellness Court would like to proudly annouce that another participant successfully completed all levels and requirements of the Youth Wellness Court!!! Congratulations Treyton Thompson on your successful completion and graduation from Youth Wellness Court! Treyton was gifted with a starquil, meal, a cake, a certification of completion signed by the youth court judge and he also got to destroy his juvenile court file! The Wellness team wishes the best of luck to Treyton!!!

Our Youth Wellness participants took part in tipi building today!! Mike Burbank from the RST Alcohol Treatment Program gave a tipi presentation and shared great information about the tipi’s significance to our ancestors and our culture and how it’s used today. Mike then showed them how to assemble and take down a tipi. Thank you to Mike and the Alcohol Treatment staff for reconnecting our youth to our culture!

The Wellness Team would like to announce a successful completion by one of our Wellness participants!! Congratulations to Shalayla Provancial on successfully completing all the requirements and levels of the Juvenile Healing to Wellness Court!! With her successful completion, Shalayla was able to receive her certificate of completion, received a starquilt and was able to destroy her court file. The Wellness Team wishes you the best of luck!!

The Wellness Court is proud to announce a successful completion by one of our participants! Congratulations to Dayla Valandra for successfully completing all of the levels and requirements of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Juvenile Healing to Wellness Court! Upon completion Dayla received her completion certificate, a star quilt and she got to destroy her case file! The Wellness Team wishes her the best!

The new coverage includes practices such as music therapy, sweat lodges, and drumming, which are integral to Native healing traditions and have proved helpful for addiction among other health issues.
