Today we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to Country, and their families. Their sacrifices have made our freedoms possible, and their courage continues to inspire us. As we gather with loved ones, may we carry their memory with gratitude and pride ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

Doctor of Medicine ๐ŸŽ“ Twenty-five years ago today, I walked the stage at Lincoln Center with my classmates as we collectively became graduates of the (Icahn) Mount Sinai School of Medicine. A month later I shipped off to Honolulu HI for my PGY1 Prelim Medicine Year - little did I know that year would be one of the formative experiences to later spark my passion for and . Medicine has given me all the joys, frustrations, challenges, and rewards of a Life Calling. So thankful for my mentors who guided me - and this career in Oculofacial Plastic Surgery that has taken me to the most fascinating places and connected me with the best people, dedicated professionals, and authentic experiences. Grateful for the patients and their families who have entrusted me with their care ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ And yes, fact (see banner in photo) around the year 2000, during a transitional period when hospital and medical school mergers were growing common in NYC, Mount Sinai became part of New York University - and NYU briefly had 2 medical schools! Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this remarkable journey.

Honored to be invited as visiting professor to give Grand Rounds for the Dept of Ophthalmology at NY Medical College earlier this month. My talk โ€œOculofacial Plastic Surgery in the Global Arenaโ€ was a culmination of my last 10 years collaborating with various NGOโ€™s in developing overseas surgical and teaching programs. Itโ€™s humbling to put together a talk on this topic knowing how much has been accomplished and yet seeing the great need that still exists in the countries, war zones, and remote locations where we have worked. Inspiring has been the resilience of the doctors we have trained, the patients we have treated, and the growth of the partner programs. Sustainability is the buzz word and key to continued impact ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ Great to see my ENT colleagues there from Face2Face. Had a brief stop at the Dept of Neurological Surgery to visit with the other Dr. Gandhi ๐Ÿ˜„ Look forward to continuing the dialogue with international ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ colleagues next week when we review our Ukraine experience at the American Society of Ophthalmic Trauma Meeting in Houston TX.

Hard to believe but in 2 short months Iโ€™ll be attending my 25 Year ๐Ÿ˜„ med school graduation reunion from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in NYC (now the Icahn School). After acquiring the 2 letters โ€œMDโ€ training and a slew of exams of course continued for years (6 to be exact) before starting my career in Oculofacial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. So thankful I found this specialty where I can continue to grow and expand myself. Honored and privileged daily to care for our incredible patients. On this National Doctors Day, recognizing my friends and colleagues in medicine and surgery the world over who have dedicated their lives and careers to patient care, education, medical research, and humanitarian outreachโ€ฆ now all more important than ever. And now with the advent of AI, medicine, public health, and care delivery will continue to evolve in ways that will increase access to care. Excited for the new generation of Doctors that - despite the challenges that come with change - will have an opportunity to shape this new dynamic into the future ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Generosity, abundance mindset, and the healing spirit! We love our patients, and were recently so impressed and inspired to watch two lovely friends take care of each other following (blepharoplasty) eyelid surgery and CO2 laser resurfacing with our practice. This is what they brought us in return at the first postop, after we handed them protein bars to nosh at the office after surgery. What a thoughtful gift of generosity returned in spades - moreover they assembled care packages for US while THEY were healing! The card reads โ€œDr. Gandhi and Team - C and I really appreciate the care and detail you spent to make sure all went smoothly โ€“ all the texts checking on us! โค๏ธ just some treats when you work too long, sincerely L+Cโ€ โ€” Proud of our team that can deliver the best outcomes and take care of our patients the way we should ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ BTW we perform state of the art laser eyelid surgery and fractionated laser resurfacing โžก๏ธ โžก๏ธ โžก๏ธ - amongst many other offerings, in our relaxed and welcoming office focused on you, our patient. More on Dr. Gandhi here . Come see us to learn more.

Lviv, Ukraine - Oct 2024. Now 3 years in, the brutal war continues and our Mission tirelessly continues - to bring some normalcy and hope back to shattered lives. Face2Face and the Co-Pilot Project, a proud partnership in reconstructive surgery and education with multiple NGOโ€™s and our Ukrainian counterparts. This is how Americans and Ukrainians work together for humanity. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Mentors ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ 20 years ago (hard to believe) I started my journey in Oculofacial Plastic Surgery with Dr. Chris Fleming in Memphis TN. Year 1 of fellowship training, he was my main preceptor - and if you are part of ASOPRS or know Dr. Fleming, you also know he is one of the best. That year besides being an outstanding surgeon, the Dept CFO, fellowship director, and other local hats, come January he was our ASOPRS President. So quietly focused and understated about his national society role, it was *March before I even realized he was President. This was just his way and remains to this day - the focus is the mission, the goal, the task at hand. Reflective of how carefully he treated every patient, every operating room caseโ€ฆ a true role model. One of the main lessons I learned that year was humility, which has continued to serve me in my surgical career. Years later, Dr. Fleming has also been a humanitarian, and remains an advisor and sounding board through our shared interest in global health and international education in Oculoplastic surgery. So fortunate! Today is international mentors day - Congrats ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ to all who have made teaching the next generation part of their medical career. ๐Ÿ“ธ at University Club, Chicago.
