What was the thing you wished you asked of your visitors when you brought your baby home?

The first days and weeks of life are filled with so many big emotions- most of them coming from Mom but the loved ones in our lives are often overjoyed and so excited to meet your baby.

As guests who are visiting a new mom and her baby, it’s important to keep these things in mind:

1️⃣ Wash your hands and respect the parents’ wishes if they prefer you to wear a mask or not hold the baby just yet. You don’t know their journey (NICU stay? Preemie? Doctor recommendation?) so leave the judgment and germs at the door and bring only kind words and love.

2️⃣ Be helpful. Wash a few bottles, offer to watch the baby while Mom takes a nap, fold laundry. The list is endless and Mom would love the help!

3️⃣ Be mindful of the length of your stay. In the early days of postpartum, it’s not the new parents’ responsibility to entertain guests.

4️⃣ BRING FOOD (and coffee)…something that can be frozen and kept for later, to take another task off of their list. If you’re in Essex County, NJ- I highly recommend for amazing freezer meals and for the best bread (featured here but not and ad…I just know good Italian food when I see it)

Did you find this helpful? Share it with a pregnant friend!

🙋🏻‍♀️ Raise your hand if you have a toddler!

🙌🏼 Give me a high-ten if your bedtime routine is a nightmare!

I’ve been right there with you and can tell you that you can make sustainable changes to a more implement a enjoyable bedtime routine.

1️⃣ Move bedtime earlier to be sure they’re not overtired and to give extra time for all of the “asks” they have

2️⃣ Let them run around and get their energy out. For sensory-seekers or sensory-avoiders, look up “heavy work” activities from an occupational therapist. These work wonders in our house!

3️⃣ Get a bedtime routine chart and stick to it! Incorporate timers as well. It’s harder to argue with a concrete visual than mom and dad.

Seriously though, leave a 🙌🏼 below if you’re struggling with your toddler’s bedtime and want behavior support ⬇️

Nap schedules.
Feeding schedules.
Therapy schedules…
OH MY 😵‍💫

Even the most organized moms can struggle with fitting naps around daily appointments (🙋🏻‍♀️ Hi! That’s me!).

Why? Because you can’t force your child to sleep, and even the most predictable sleepers will be unpredictable the one day you absolutely have to be somewhere. It’s science 🧪

So how do you plan therapy or doctor’s appointments around something so variable?

Start with what you can control, nap times. Check out my blog on for specific schedules by age, and try to offer naps at roughly the same time each day (allowing +/- 30 minutes). Assume each nap lasts about an hour, give or take, and plan forward from there.

For example, if your 7-month-old naps at:

⏰ 9:00–10:00 AM
⏰12:30–1:30 PM
⏰4:00–4:30 PM

…you can aim to schedule appointments during non-nap times. In a perfect world, offices would always have availability during those windows, but we know that’s not always the case.

Here’s a tip: schedule appointments about 1–2 hours after the start of a nap. This gives you multiple options:

1. Nap at home if you have enough time to fit a solid nap before leaving.
2. Nap in the car for 1+ hours, taking the long way and knowing your favorite drive-thru spots can be a lifesaver for longer car naps!

And don’t forget: short nap days or busy appointment days are perfect for an earlier bedtime, this helps your little one’s body soak in all those great sessions.

📸 Big thanks to my youngest, Olivia, for this awesome footage of one of her OT sessions!

Most sleep struggles turn into patterns that feel “normal” simply because they’ve lasted so long.🤷🏻‍♀️

👉 That 5-month-old who only naps on you?
Could still be doing it in 12 months.
👉 That toddler who needs a bottle and 45 minutes of rocking? Might still be waking multiple times a night at age 3.
👉 That co-sleeping setup that kind of works now?

It could be the reason your toddler is waking multiple times a night and struggling to fall back asleep without you.

I support parents who are ready to stop waiting… and start sleeping. Comment ‘ZEN’ to learn all the ways I can support you towards full nights of sleep for you and your little one.😴
