Inroads To Opportunities Empowering people with disabilities in their pursuit of employment, independence and life skills. We have grown from serving 4 individuals to over 500 annually.

Occupational Center of Union County (OCUC) was founded in March of 1959 as a not-for-profit 501 (c) 3 agency serving the greater Union County area. We are committed to providing vocational preparation, transition from school to work, job placement and mental health services to individuals with all types of disabilities from ages 16 on up. We have established relationships with 100's of local busin

esses, schools, hospitals, community agencies, and families. Starting in 2015, we will be doing business as Inroads to Opportunities. Inroads is certified by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). We are an approved provider of the NJ Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services, the NJ Division of Development Disabilities and the Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired. We are licensed by the state of New Jersey to provide mental health partial care services under the Division of Mental Health and Addictions Services. We are an approved Medicaid provider and an approved Employment Network under the Ticket to Work Social Security initiative.

We are saddened to share that our beautiful outdoor picnic area at Inroads to Opportunities has once again been vandalized.

This space was created to provide individuals with disabilities a peaceful, safe, and welcoming environment to relax, socialize, enjoy meals, and participate in meaningful outdoor activities.

As a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the health, wellness, and independence of over 450 individuals annually, maintaining a secure and positive environment is one of our highest priorities. Acts like this not only damage property, but also impact a community that deserves kindness, respect, and dignity.

If anyone has any information regarding this incident, we kindly ask that you contact us directly so the appropriate authorities can be notified. Community support means everything to us, and we greatly appreciate your help in protecting the spaces that mean so much to the individuals we serve.

⚾ Inroads had an amazing time at the beautiful TD Bank Ballpark this week cheering on the Somerset Patriots!

You can tell by the smiling faces that everyone had an absolute blast. Experiences like these help create lasting memories, strengthen friendships, and bring our community together.

Inroads to Opportunities is now enrolling for our 2026 Summer Transition Extended School Year Program, designed to help students continue building independence, workplace readiness, social skills, and confidence during the summer months.

Participants will enjoy:
• Hands-on learning experiences
• Community outings and field trips
• Opportunities to build friendships
• Activities focused on life and vocational skill development

Program Dates:
July 6, 2026 – August 14, 2026
Monday through Friday | 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
