Taking care of your teeth.
1. Sour candies
It’s usually not surprising that candy is unhealthy for your mouth. But sour candy contains more and different kinds of acids that are tougher on your teeth. Plus, because they’re chewy, they stick to your teeth for a longer time, so they’re more likely to cause decay. If you crave sweets, grab a square of chocolate instead, which you can chew quickly and wash away easily.

2. Bread
Think twice as you walk down the supermarket bread aisle. When you chew bread, your saliva breaks down the starches into sugar. When the bread becomes a gummy paste-like substance in your mouth, it sticks to the crevices between teeth. So, that can cause cavities.

Healthy Teeth
Vitamin C Found in: Citrus fruits (such as lemons, oranges, limes and grapefruit), tomatoes, strawberries, capsicum, broccoli, kiwifruit.

Why: You may have heard that, centuries ago, sailors used to get a disease called scurvy, which caused bruised and bleeding gums, among other things. Eventually it was discovered scurvy was caused by chronic vitamin C deficiency, brought on by lack of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Toothache
A toothache refers to pain in or around your tooth. Minor toothaches can occur from a temporary gum irritation that you can treat at home. More severe toothaches result from cavities, infection or other dental conditions that won’t get better on their own. If you have a severe toothache, you’ll need professional dental treatment.
Types of toothaches
There are different types of tooth pain depending on the underlying cause. Specific toothache symptoms can vary but may include:
1. A dull ache that doesn’t go away.
2. Sharp, jabbing tooth pain.
3. Throbbing tooth pain.
4. Teeth sensitivity.
5. Swelling in your gums.

Chocolate: A Superfood for Your Teeth
A dentist recommending chocolate? Yes, that’s right, you read correctly. Recent studies emerging from Japan, England, and the U.S. support the fact that chocolate is effective at fighting cavities, plaque, and tooth decay in the mouth. Dark chocolate (I can’t speak for sugary milk chocolate) doesn’t deserve its bad rap as a cavity-causing treat. It may actually help prevent cavities!

Cavities
A cavity is a hole in a tooth that develops from tooth decay. Cavities form when acids in your mouth wear down (erode) your tooth’s hard outer layer (enamel). Anyone can get a cavity. Proper oral hygiene and regular dental cleanings can prevent cavities. Another name for tooth cavities is dental caries. This slow-growing cavity dissolves tooth enamel. You can prevent it — and sometimes reverse it — with proper oral hygiene. People in their 20s often develop this form of tooth decay between their teeth.

Tooth Problems
You've made a dentist appointment, and it can't come soon enough. Meanwhile, it can help to rinse your mouth with warm water, floss to remove food caught between teeth, and take an over-the-counter pain reliever. If you notice swelling or pus around the tooth, or if you have a fever, that could be a sign that you have an abscess, a more serious problem. See your dentist as soon as possible. You may need antibiotics as well as other treatments.
