As a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach, Herbalist & Cottage Food Producer, Connected Meals, LLC is a blend of my two passions in life: Food and Connection.

I used to believe the answer was always to push through and do more.

Anyone who knows me knows I’m driven. I like to finish the task and do it well.

When life forced me to slow down, my body was finding ways to be still… but my mind kept racing.

Even when life feels out of control, we still have influence over one powerful thing.

Our mindset.

Small shifts in perspective can change how we experience everything.

Choosing gratitude instead of frustration.
Choosing acceptance instead of resistance.
Choosing determination instead of defeat.

These days, choosing my mindset is part of how I care for my health.

This is something I see often in my coaching work. Many people already know WHAT they want to change for their health, but feeling stuck in the HOW is where things get hard.

Sometimes the first shift toward better health isn’t food or exercise. Sometimes it starts with perspective.

If you’ve been feeling stuck and unsure where to start, sometimes a conversation can help uncover the next small step forward.

Recently I was asked, “What exactly does a health coach do?” That’s a good question!

The way I explained it was that I help people move from the “I can’t” stage into, “I might consider doing” stage, into the “I’m going to do” stage. Which then becomes the “I AM DOING”, and next the “I’m continuing to do” stage. Ultimately transforming to “This is just my lifestyle now."

Let’s walk this journey together for a bit and see where it can take you.

What have you learned this week about yourself that is worth celebrating with a high five?

This week I learned that…

There are other people just as passionate about their coffee (and crazy humor) as I am.

Small steps can be some of the most important steps a person can take.

When I show up in my real voice, it is heard and felt by all of you.

And when someone listens to you for a few minutes it is a gift like no other.

Thank you all for being a part of the journey as Connected Meals continues to grow.

Cheers to the weekend!

How do you build connection into your life?

As a solo business owner, I seek out opportunities to meet others at coffee shops and do some co-working sessions.

Positive energy = Productivity

The same can be felt in coaching sessions.

Sometimes you need a little bit of new energy to take that next step.

I love meeting people where they are at, so I created a Health & Wellness Mini Check-In.

6 simple questions.
No pressure.
No judgement.

I'll follow up with a personal email that includes a simple reflection, one small next step, and gentle encouragement.

Take your next meaningful step forward today.

Do you ever feel like someone is listening to you talk, but not actually hearing what you are saying?

National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coaches (NBC-HWC) are trained to be good listeners.  But one thing I've told I'm really good at is a skill called active listening.

I’ve spent the past few years improving this skill through my training and working with clients.

It’s what allows my clients to be truly heard in a space that sometimes can be loud and silencing at the same time.

If you are craving a space to be heard, let's find 20 minutes to connect.

I’m listening.

Something I am seeing and hearing a lot of these days is that if you don’t make it from scratch, grow it yourself, or personally see where and how it was raised, then you aren’t doing a good job prioritizing your nutrition, and ultimately your health.

I want to say that I don’t agree 💯 with this.

Informed decisions about your food are important. But stressing over every single detail is exhausting.

I make a lot of things from scratch because I enjoy doing it, it doesn’t mean you have to.

I find that weeding my garden is a stress reliever for me. It doesn’t mean you have to be growing vegetables and weeding also.

And guess what - I also serve frozen pizza in my home. Because honestly, not every dish I make turns out to be a hit. Or we have activities to get to and the hours in my day have gotten away from me and I need something quick. Or, gasp, I just don’t feel like cooking. 🤯

I don’t let this define me.

I do, however, make a decision that I feel good about putting on the table. This is where awareness can come into play.

For me, that means serving it alongside raw cut up veggies, a salad, or topping it with some fresh basil.

The job of a NBC-HWC is always client-centered. That means our conversations revolve around what you want and finding out what is actually achievable and sustainable for YOU!

In the Connect Meals Recipe Club, we show up and share our kitchen stories, wherever we are in our journey. Spots are now open for April! Don’t miss out.

3 things about me that have nothing to do with my business…

1) I have a sense of humor that most people find, well, shall we say surprising. I enjoy starting my day with one of these inspiration grim reapers. They are just cute and do make me feel better when I am having a difficult day. 🤣

2) I actually prefer a cup of good plain black coffee to tea with my breakfast. And I like it at room temperature the best. Also, if I have left the last bit sitting on the counter, do not dump it out on behalf. I am the one in control when I am done drinking coffee for the day, thank you. ☕

3)
Before running a half marathon in 2014 with Team World Vision, my only logical reason to run was for safety reasons. For example, if there was a bear changing us in the woods, I only needed to be a step in front of the other person I was with so as to not get eaten by the bear! Case in point on my humor 😜 I now run for enjoyment when my health allows. 🏃‍♀️

We all have our quirkiness. We all have things that may not always align with how the world perceives us. That’s what makes us unique.

As your health coach…
I will always show up to meet you where you are.

I will do my best to bring some calm to the, at times, chaotic journey of health and wellness.

I will help shine a light on your inner voice so it can be strengthened and you can reach your goals.

I am here to walk alongside you in your journey. If you are curious how health coaching could support you, let's connect.

What is one small shift you want to see in yourself?

What types of inner strengths do you have that can help make that happen?

Every moment offers us choices.

What are you going to choose for yourself?

I have not been super active here because in the past I would overthink, re-write, delete, question my content, question my message, and then freeze.

AND NOT POST ANYTHING

I’m realizing that is what a lot of my coaching clients do, too.

So, I am taking a step back and then I am going to take some small steps forward. Today my small step is to just show up here and share this small piece of information about me.

I overthink.

Sometimes it’s worth it when I am researching and learning, sometimes not when I want to show up for others and just be authentic.

Moving forward doesn’t always mean huge leaps and bounds.

Sometimes it means just taking that next small shuffle forward.

And it can feel more achievable when you have someone alongside for support.

Which is why I signed up to work with someone to help me stop overthinking and start becoming confident and clear in my message.

Let’s do the uncomfortable work of the first steps together. Because if you stumble, someone will be there to pick you up and encourage you to keep going. And that’s where your confidence starts to build.

P.S. Thanks for making this wonderful watercolor tea cup painting set and sharing your passion for art!
