I’m out of every ounce of patience I could possibly have, rent, steal or find.

But they are done. 🍪

As the holiday approaches, my wish for you is to slow down, be in the moment, try not to get too overwhelmed, and to enjoy friends and/ or family.

🚨 PARENTS!!! 🚨

Your children do not need or want you to be perfect!!!

They want you to be safe.

Safe to go to with their pains.

Safe to go to when something you said hurt them

Safe to talk to about the imperfections of their childhood.

Get curious as to what your child (grown or not) has/had experiences and how that made them feel.

9/10 they are looking for validation and to feel seen and heard.

Here are some questions you can ask your child to start to cultivate and nurture a dialog with them:

1. What was it like being my child?
2. Is there anything you feel I need to know about our relationship?
3. Do you feel safe coming to me about things I may have said or done that hurt you?
4. Do you feel like we have a close relationship? Why or why now?
5. I’m curious how (fill in the blank) made you feel, can you tell me more?

Allow these question to open the door to deeper more meaningful conversations with your child.

And remember, you don’t get to decide if you are a safe parent or not. If your child’s perception of you feels unsafe to them, but you feel you are a safe parent allow that disconnection to open to deeper conversation.

“Therapists always blame the parent!”

Depends on your definition of blame is I guess.

Trying to understand how your childhood and upbringing may have affected your life as an adult is NOT blame. It’s awareness.

Re-processing your childhood emotions that you never really got to feel because you were in survival mode is NOT blame. It’s healing.

Talking to your parents about how you were affected by past family dynamics and pains is NOT blame. It’s communication.

Wanting to clear these emotional blocks and traumas in order to have healthier and more loving relationships is NOT blame. It’s maturity.

I help people pleasers and over achievers break generational curses and patters in order to live a more aligned and joy filled existence.
