The Michigan Association for Addiction Professionals had its first Board meeting today since our annual strategic planning meeting last month. The Michigan Association of Addiction Professionals is looking for excited and passionate addiction professionals to join our Board of Advisors! Don't wait! The deadline for submissions is June 13, 2025.

Why join MAADAC?
-Sponsor educational programs for alcohol and drug addiction counselors and professionals.
-Network with other alcohol and drug addiction professionals across Michigan and the nation.
-Access hundreds of CEU's via NAADAC's extensive library of webinars.
-Enhance your professional identity and learn valuable skills to grow within the field of addiction work.
-Advocate for addiction professionals on a local, state, and federal level.

Responsibilities
-Attend virtual monthly board meetings, held on the 2nd Saturday of each month.

-Opportunity to participate in subcommittees as needed (ethics, membership, education, etc.).

Qualifications
-Current NAADAC and MAADAC membership.

The 2025 MAADAC Conference will welcome speaker Mark McMillan, LMSW, CAADC!

Mark has been a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), and a Certified Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CAADC) for just under ten years. Mark obtained his Masters Social Work degree from the advanced MSW program from Wayne State University. In October 2020, Mark opened McMillan Behavioral Health and Addiction Services, a private psychotherapy practice located in Metro Detroit, that specializes in addiction and behavior disorder treatment in the LGBTQIA+ communities. Mark also holds a certification in Trauma Informed Care from the Michigan State University School of Social Work continuing education program.

Sonya Brice-Beard is a Reentry Specialist with the Michigan Department of Corrections - OS Administration. She directs Administrative Agencies covering 3 Regions (24 Counties) to ensure services and programs are provided to Returning Citizens during and after their release into the community. She started her career with MDOC in 1994 as a Parole/Probation Agent and has served as a Reentry Lead Agent (securing partnerships, housing, employment opportunities, and services with community agencies), and Trainer (Collaborative Case Management and COMPAS assessment).
