Attn breastfeeding moms! Proper storage of your “liquid gold” is essential!
The general rule of thumb is that untouched breastmilk is safe for your baby if it’s been sitting at room temperature for four hours or less (source: Center for Disease Control). If it’s been longer than four hours, you need to throw it out. If you know you’re not going to use the milk during that time and your baby hasn’t sipped from it yet, just stick it in the fridge (up to 4 days) or freezer (up to 6 months or even a year).
