We are saddened to report that Erik Dalton, PhD, founder of the Freedom from Pain Institute and Dalton Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques, died Saturday, January 11, at his home in Costa Rica at the age of 81.

A pioneer in the massage and bodywork profession, Erik was a manual therapist for more than 40 years, an educator for more than 30 years, and an affiliate faculty member at Indiana State University’s Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. We at ABMP had the good fortune of working with Erik as an author and educator and always enjoyed his passion for the profession, his creativity, and his zest for life that permeated everyone around him.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, colleagues, and students around the world🤍

I have returned to work following nearly 5 months away from home. I had the honor of being (unpaid) Primary Caregiver to a friend who needed and received a liver transplant.

Gratitude is contagious

A fisherman spotted her just east of the Faralon Islands (outside the Golden Gate) and radioed for help. Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so badly off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her…. a very dangerous proposition. One slap of the tail could kill a rescuer.
They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, nudged them, and pushed gently, thanking them. Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives.
The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth says her eye was following him the whole time, and he will never be the same.
May you be so fortunate to be surrounded by people who will help you get untangled from the things that are binding you.
And, may you always know the joy of giving and receiving gratitude 🙏
