🧠 Therapy in a Time of Chaos

As therapists, we’re trained to hold space for others—but what happens when we feel the overwhelm too?

Between burnout, compassion fatigue, and the emotional toll of working with high-conflict couples, many clinicians are quietly struggling behind the scenes.

Couples dealing with infidelity aren’t just navigating betrayal—they’re often doing so while managing intense emotions, attachment injuries, and a loss of meaning in their relationship.

You don’t have to navigate this work alone.
If you're a therapist supporting couples through affair recovery, this is your invitation to:

🖤 On Juneteenth: Holding Space in Unsteady Times 🖤

Today, as we honor Juneteenth—a day that represents liberation, resilience, and the ongoing fight for justice—many of us are also sitting with the weight of today’s political climate. Voting rights under threat. Reproductive rights in jeopardy. Anti-LGBTQ+ legislation. Gun violence. Global unrest.
And yet... we are still showing up.

As therapists, we carry the emotional residue of this chaos into our sessions, especially when working with couples whose relationships are straining under the pressure of today’s world.
How do we help couples feel safe, connected, and hopeful when the ground beneath all of us is shaking?

If you’ve felt this tension in the therapy room—if you’ve wondered how to keep your practice strong while the world feels like it’s unraveling—you are not alone.
That’s exactly why I created the CEU course:
➡️ Plagues, Politics, and Relationship Vulnerability
Because the personal is political... and the political is deeply personal in our work with couples.

This course gives you tools to:
✅ Understand how sociopolitical stressors impact relational dynamics
✅ Identify key vulnerabilities in couples navigating political conflict
✅ Develop clinical strategies that honor both the couple’s connection and the world they live in

🧠✨ It’s about being present. Being prepared. And being powerful agents of healing—even when it’s hard.

📢 Calling All Therapists! A Must-Read on Infidelity is Here! 📢

Infidelity is one of the most complex and emotionally charged issues we face in therapy. But what if many of the things we believe about cheating aren’t entirely true?

My new book, Deconstructing Infidelity: Causes & Myths, dives deep into the real reasons people stray, debunking harmful myths and offering a fresh, research-backed perspective that can transform how we approach betrayal in the therapy room.

✅ Understand the psychological and emotional triggers behind infidelity
✅ Challenge common misconceptions that may be hindering your clients’ healing
✅ Gain insights to help couples rebuild trust—or find closure

If you work with couples or individuals struggling with the aftermath of an affair, this book is an essential addition to your professional toolkit.

From an outsider’s perspective, dealing with a cheating partner might seem obvious: cut your losses and run.

But Talal Alsaleem, who has helped hundreds of couples work through their infidelity in his 17 years as a clinical psychologist and licensed marriage and family counselor, says couples should do the opposite. First, they should turn toward each other. That doesn’t necessarily mean forgiving the wrongdoing, he says – it just means facing the problem head-on.

Clinical psychologist Talal Alsaleem has helped hundreds of couples work through romantic affairs. He shares common misconceptions about cheating -- and how to cope.
