Children and COVID
I'm seeing a lot of reaction to COVID, with less fear and anxiety than I would expect. It seems that children took to heart the early reports that kids don't get COVID More recent reports suggest that they get the virus but often don't show symptoms, but that some time later a small percentage have serious issues with internal inflamation caused by their immune system. But don't tell that to children because it is a small percentage.
What I'm seeing, a lot, is kids ramping up the intensity around the home. More arguments, more fights with siblings, etc. This could decline as they are able to get outside more and to get away from the sibs. And the parents.
I saw a pattern in school work. At first most welcomed getting out of school and being "homeschooled", especially my patients on the Autism Spectrum. By the second or third week, video teaching and lots of individual work got tedious, and many started to give parents a hard time. Now the school assignments are over, so things might get less tense.
This is a generalized opinion based on my patients, and on reports from other child psychologists. If your child is anxious or acting out increasingly, I'd be happy to help.
