On Saturday, April 26, I will be competing in the Natural Strongman Worldโs Qualifier Competition. It is a one-day event that evaluates not only physical strength but also mental toughness, discipline, and resilience. But for me, this competition is not about lifting heavy things, it is about lifting others up.
As a retired police officer and now a mental health therapist specializing in the care of first responders, veterans, front-line medical professionals, and their families, I have seen firsthand how the demands of these careers can leave lasting, often unseen, scars. I currently provide therapy and wellness services through my practice, Protector Wellness, which is based in Roseville, MN. One mission has shaped my life and career: to help others build strength; physically, mentally, and emotionally. I live by three simple rules: Lift heavy things. Do hard sh*t. Embrace the pain.
I am using this strongman competition as an opportunity to raise funds and awareness for the Invisible Wounds Project. The Invisible Wounds Project is an organization dedicated to supporting the mental health and wellness needs of veterans, first responders, front-line medicalprofessionals, and their families. Their mission is one I share deeply: to serve those who serve us, many of whom quietly carry the weight of invisible wounds.
On competition day, I will be putting my body to the test in honor of those who are fighting battles we cannot always see. The weights I carry in competition are nothing compared to the ones they carry daily. Please consider supporting this effort either by donating to the provided link or through sharing this cause.
