The conversation around occupational strain in IR is finally starting to shift.

A recent article highlighted research suggesting thinner radiation protection aprons may help reduce musculoskeletal risk for interventional radiology staff without compromising protection.

At Egg Medical, we believe the future of radiation protection should support both clinician safety and clinician longevity—which is why we continue to focus on solutions like ultralight .125 lead options designed for real-world workflows in the lab.

Radiation safety is only part of the equation. Long-term orthopedic strain, fatigue, and career sustainability deserve attention, too.

That’s a wrap for 🇫🇷

Our Egg Medical Team was in Paris, leading discussions on the future of interventional cardiology, clinician safety, and advances in radiation protection in the lab.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, connected with our team, and helped move the conversation forward.

🗽 Next stop: New York City.

We’re honored to be invited to OPCI 2026 and join conversations with some of the brightest minds in interventional cardiology.

Looking forward to connecting with physicians, industry leaders, investors, and innovators helping shape the future of cardiovascular care.

See you there 👋🏼

FINAL PART 4: Robust Clinical Data

The future of radiation safety must be backed by evidence.

As conversations around occupational exposure continue to evolve, real-world evidence is critical to understanding risk, improving protection, and shaping the future of procedural care.

At Egg Medical, we believe real-world, clinical data should help drive innovation and support safer, more sustainable careers in the lab.

Thank you to Dr. Robert Riley and Optima Education for continuing to move these conversations forward.

PART 3: Procedural Versatility

No two procedures are the same—and radiation protection should reflect that.

Today’s procedural environments demand protection systems that can adapt to complex workflows, evolving techniques, and the realities of modern intervention.

At Egg Medical, flexibility and real-world usability remain central to how we approach radiation protection.

Thank you to Dr. Robert Riley and Optima Education for continuing to lead these conversations.

The final part of our mini series on what makes a safe cath lab will be coming your way soon. Stay tuned.

PART 2 IS HERE! Seamless Workflow

A safer lab should also include a smarter workflow. For a truly safe cath lab, the second key pillar that Dr. Robert Riley highlighted is the importance of a seamless workflow.

Radiation protection solutions should support procedural efficiency—not disrupt it.

At Egg Medical, we believe protection must integrate into real-world clinical environments without slowing teams down or interrupting patient care.

Thank you to Dr. Robert Riley and Optima Education for advancing these important conversations.

PART 1: Protection for All

What defines a truly safe cath lab?

At London PCI 2025, Dr. Robert Riley highlighted the first of four key pillars: Protection for all.

Because radiation safety shouldn’t stop with the operator.

Nurses. Anesthesiologists. Echo teams. Every clinician in the room deserves protection.

At Egg Medical, this belief is foundational to how we approach enhanced radiation protection and support for the entire care team.

Thank you to Dr. Robert Riley and Optima Education for continuing to push these important conversations forward.

Stay tuned for part 2! Seamless Workflow

As discussions around occupational safety and long-term sustainability in procedural environments continue to grow, Egg Medical joined the conversation and connected with clinicians across the vascular community.

The International Society for Women Vascular Surgeons (ISWVS) meeting continues to create important space for conversations around vascular care, education, collaboration, and support for women in the field.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to support and engage with those helping shape the future of care.

Great to have Chelsea Dinkenor representing Egg Medical at ISWVS.

This WONDER study is an important initiative from the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions that brings greater visibility to occupational radiation exposure among pregnant women in interventional cardiology.

Research efforts like this are critical to advancing conversations around clinician safety, long-term exposure, and the realities many women face in procedural environments.

At Egg Medical, we believe progress starts with awareness, data, and continued advocacy for the entire care team.

Radiation exposure remains a critical concern for female interventional cardiologists. SCAI invites female ICs and fellows within 5 years of training to participate in the WONDER study.

Participants receive surface and under-the-lead dosimeters that provide real-time, on-demand radiation dose data, along with the opportunity to contribute to meaningful research shaping future practice.

Enrollment closes May 30. Learn more and apply ➡️ https://redcapynh.ynhh.org/surveys/?s=DNHMF73KDFFXMNPP
