The answer is good grip strength only measures how well you will age because it is usually a result of a very active life filled with various tasks and exercises. Instantly creating roadblocks and thinking that adding a small new habit will take too much time and energy will harm you greater in the end. Although exercise can decrease your chance of dementia, and even stop progression, it needs to be the RIGHT exercise. Bursts of vigorous exercise in a workout or a day with intense sports here and there is excellent for your body. Everyday intense for hours can actually do damage. Ask athletes how they feel after a season of playing. They will usually say "broken down and need rest". Do that everyday for years and you can damage yourself on a cellular level.

On the flip side... it's good to sweat, lift heave weights, stretch and do tons of balance work a few times a week. A recipe for prevention!

High blood pressure can affect individuals at any age. Genetics, health and lifestyle are key indicators if you are at risk. Exercise is one of the best medicines to keep in control as long as it is done safely. Great article with solid information. Here’s a few items to add……

~make sure you get a clearance from your doctor before beginning a new exercise program;

~consider a cardiac rehab program or working with an exercise physiologist especially if your blood pressure is hard to control;

~never hold your breath! Breathe naturally;

~take your blood pressure before, during and after exercise to keep track of readings. You will see your body respond more favorably as time goes on;

~listen to your body! If you have any symptoms of feeling lightheaded, dizzy, nauseous, stop exercising and take blood pressure. Let your doctor know!
