National Patient Safety Week
Today is the first day of National Patient Safety Week. In the hospital lobby, visitors had the opportunity to take a compression only cpr class. CPR can help to save a life, during the wait for an ambulance. To learn more about CPR classes offered at St. Francis, call 516 629 2036.

St. Francis of Assisi, our hospital’s patron saint, started the tradition of displaying the crèche, or Christmas crib. Today, we celebrated the blessing of the crèche at St. Francis.

The annual Field of Honor, featuring American flags sponsored in tribute to military service members both past and present, is now on proud display on the hospital grounds along Port Washington Boulevard. This is always a moving sight as you drive past St. Francis Hospital during the month of November. At a ceremony on November 2, the Guild Board gathered with hospital leadership, local veterans and our community’s elected officials to honor, remember and thank our veterans for their service. Special thanks to the Guild of St. Francis Hospital for organizing this tribute every year.

Birthday celebrations in the Pastoral Care office are on another level! Sister Monica and Sister Faustina celebrate their colleagues with cake, decorations… and dance. Today, they sang Happy Birthday to Reverend Karel Boersma, and Sister My Hoa Nguyen. Happy Birthday, and thank you, Sisters Monica and Faustina, for sharing your talents with us! 🎶🎈🎉🎂
This week, on the Feast Day of St. Francis, we hosted our annual Blessing of the Animals. Our pet pals were all willing participants, each one calmly and curiously receiving the blessing from the priest. 🐶
