I am almost finished with all of my handmade products for wellness fair and market! I made all my personal favorite herby things.

I’m most excited about the gotu kola face oil. It’s made with jojoba oil and rose hip seed oil. I made it to be daily care for aging skin. Get that power of nature on yah face! Haha. I hope ya’ll like it.

I also made some arnica salve, which is for bruises and swelling. I’ve had to use that stuff several times as I have a penchant for hand injuries 😅

It’s at the UKCSC Centennial Center on April 25th. 10am-4pm.

If any of ya’ll want me to ship something I can if I have any left over after the fair.

Sheep sorrel is yummy in early to mid spring before it blooms.

Like spinach, it has oxalates in it, which can effect some folks in large amounts. So don’t eat too much at once!

It’s a pretty common w**d- look in grassy, meadowy areas.

You can read more about oxalates and sheep sorrel in my book: Edible Plants of the Pacific Northwest by Natalie Hammerquist. ☺️✌️🌼👩‍🌾

Have you tried sheep sorrel?

Meet yellow bells (Frittelleria pudica). This little guy is one of the first to come up in the spring in the mountains. It reminds me that there is still love and beauty in the world ❤️🌻✌️

If you have ever struggled with firemaking, you need this video. I had so much fun with Jazmen Yoder of Northwest Natura, who is a phenomenal teacher. We cover how to collect wood, how to make feathersticks, how to split kindling with a hatchet and how to use a flint and steel, and more.

**Can my friend turn me into a pro firemaker? 🔥**In this video, I visit my friend Jazmyn, a wilderness skills instructor and founder of Northwest Natura in ...

ANNOUNCING… the cover for my winter twigs book! This book is filled with macro photography of twigs that is going to change the way you look at that bare shrubbery in the winter. Not only that, but it might give you just the dose of nature you need in the dark months.

It will be released in the fall. I’ll let you guys know when I get the exact date from and when preorders open.

I was selected to be a 2026 Literary Lion Author - a 33 year tradition of the king county library system. My parents and I attended the gala where we got to hear amazing library stories and meet some very cool librarians.

Long story short: libraries are awesome and we should continue to fund and support them any way we can. We need third places. We need accessible community resources. We need literacy.

I am so excited for this new collab event with . The plant preorder link just went live, and you can order plants for pickup in Duvall. The link is in the eventbrite event description- but feel free to DM me and I can send it to you.

I already ordered Oregon grape, sweet grass, nodding onion and coastal mugwort for myself, which I think will do well in Roslyn. 👩‍🌾

I can answer questions about what would grow well in Roslyn/ Cle Elum area. We are considering a plant sale here in Roslyn in may- any takers?

I visited a 300 year-old Japanese indigo dye house in my recent trip to Japan and got to learn about the process. Their dedication to this 1500 year old art was truly awe-inspiring. Unlike many other types of natural dye, indigo dyeing doesn’t use chemicals, just fermentation to make the dye more available.

I had a blast at today’s winter tree ID class. I was impressed by the collective sleuthing skills of this group. We gained a new appreciation for observing twig pith, looked closer at lenticels than anyone has ever before, observed the hairs of bud scales, and even spotted an elusive beaked hazelnut that managed to hang on this long.

I think I have created more tree obsessors who you may find lurking under trees and looking closely at things that seem mundane to passerby. It’s all part of my grand plan to make the world more nerdy.

If you wanted to come and weren’t able, please do let me know so I know if I should offer it again.

I LOVE NATURE!!!

More about Adiantum School...

We offer classes in Seattle, WA on herbal medicine, edible and medicinal plants, foraging, and holistic health, including in-person herbal courses. Most classes are taught by local herbalist and forager Natalie Hammerquist.

Natalie founded The Adiantum School of Plant Medicine in June 2016 with the hope of creating a local community centered around plants and healing where people could connect, share resources, learn and make friends with similar interests.

Most people start with evening classes, of which there are several each month. Natalie teaches several beginner classes such as “Intro to Herbal Medicine” and “Starting a Home Apothecary.” She also teaches medicine making, and sometimes more intermediate and advanced classes.
