Wanted to share with you all what I was up to when we closed the office for a week earlier this month. I had the pleasure and the blessing to join a wonderful team from Together We Smile in a Dental-Medical service trip to Cartagena, Colombia. We were a total of 23 people, including 4 Dentists, 1 Phiysician, 1 Hygienist and a load of supporting people that without them none of it would have been possible. This trip was very special to me in so many levels. I was going back to Colombia where I am from, going back to Cartagena, where I spent many summer holidays as a kid, and I had the opportunity to bring my daughter Olivia with me, and that was her first time visiting Colombia. We did extractions, fillings and cleanings. We focused in 2 communities, Puerto Caracol and Santa Cruz del Islote, both located off the coast of Cartagena, about a 2 hour boat ride. We also served patients at the Fundación Dones de Misericordia in Turbaco, outside Cartagena.
This was a very rewarding trip, it left me mentally re energized. And even though I came back more tired than when I left, I came back with a sense of internal peace, a full heart and a happy soul. There is nothing better than serving others using the skills that you have, and doing what you love. @
