School is back and so are the bugs!

Last week strep represented 40% of all positive tests at SmartMED, with Flu A still leading as the most predominate pathogen detected. Strep presents in many ways, but most often with sore throat, headache, and sometimes nausea/rash.

The good news is that once treated with antibiotics, patients can return to school within 24 hours, WITHOUT being contagious. And generally symptoms improve within a few days.

The most definitive test for strep is a molecular test or throat culture. SmartMED Drive-Thru offers molecular testing that returns a result in 6 minutes, so that we can quickly identify and treat strep when it arises. ✅

Hopefully you won't need us, but if you do, drive in before 5PM. We'll have you tested and on your way (with a prescription if needed) within 15 minutes. 😊
