A Place of Belonging

A Place of Belonging My primary role is to assist those who are dying. I help family and friends to come together and create sacred space for emotional healing and ceremony.

The art of dying well used to be taught widely. Holding sacred space for the dying served humankind and is, in fact, as ancient as humankind. Through the flow of time, husbands and wives, lovers, parents, and friends, have sat beside those who are dying, supporting them as they took their last breath. In many ways, the significance of a death doula, is similar to that of a birth doula. When a person nears death, the role of the end of life doula serves as their non-medical supportive companion through the dying process. An end of life doula advocates for them as they are dying, gently and with as much dignity as possible. By becoming attentive to any fears and anxieties that arise, end of life doulas, as advocates, help to relieve these concerns in practical, emotional, and spiritual ways.
