🌟 September Staff Feature: Brittany 🌟

Meet Brittany, our amazing Head Referral & Scheduling Coordinator!
Born in Canada and raised in Florida, Brittany first joined the Family Private Care team in Florida back in 2014. In 2016, she transitioned to our Georgia office, and this October will mark 9 years with FPC (with a big 10-year milestone coming up next year 🎉).

She’s married to her husband, Luke, and together they have three beautiful daughters — Brayleigh (7), Lillie (4), and Rylee (1.5). 💕 They also serve as the youth leaders at their church, and on June 21st of this year, Luke accepted the assistant pastoral position there — an exciting new chapter for their family! ✨

Brittany’s love for caring for others runs deep — it started when she was young, watching her grandmother provide caregiving in her home for many years. That early example shaped her heart for service and gave her a passion for helping families that continues today. 💙

When asked what she loves about working with FPC, Brittany shared:
💙 “I love working with FPC and how they always encourage us to be there for our families — FPC is very family oriented (hence the name, Family Private Care!). I know I can call on them to pray when I need extra prayers for me and my family. I love all my clients and caregivers and enjoy getting to know each of them!”
Outside of work, Brittany enjoys baking, cooking, going to comedy shows with her husband, spending time with her girls, family trips, and visiting her parents and loved ones back in Florida. 🌸

We are so grateful for Brittany’s dedication and heart for both her work and her family — she truly represents what Family Private Care is all about! 💙

Mrs. Johnson, 82, tripped in her living room yesterday and ended up with a bruised hip. Thankfully, nothing was broken — but now it’s up to us to figure out what happened.

👀 What might have caused her fall?

Falls don’t “just happen.” There’s usually a reason behind them — and when we identify the cause, we can prevent it from happening again.

💡 Your turn: What changes would YOU make in her home to keep her safe? Drop your ideas below ⬇️

Margaret sits at her kitchen table, staring at the teacup in her hand. She frowns. “Did I already eat breakfast?” she asks her daughter, though the empty plate in front of her gives the answer. Later, when her grandson runs up for a hug, she calls him by her late brother’s name.

At first, the family thought it was “just normal aging.” But as the confusion became more frequent—misplacing keys in the freezer, forgetting familiar faces, repeating the same questions minutes apart—they realized it was something more.

This is how Alzheimer’s disease often begins: with small moments that grow into daily struggles. It’s not just memory loss—it affects thinking, emotions, and independence.

💡 Today, on World Alzheimer’s Day, we recognize the strength of those living with this disease and the families who walk beside them. Awareness is the first step toward understanding, compassion, and support.

👉 If you notice these symptoms in yourself or a loved one, don’t ignore them. Early detection matters.

🧠 Falls are one of the leading causes of concussions in older adults. Knowing what to do right after a fall can make all the difference.

👉 Scenario:
Your loved one trips in the living room and bumps their head. They insist they’re “fine” — but what should you do?

✅ What to look for:

Headache or dizziness

Confusion or trouble remembering

Drowsiness or unusual behavior

Nausea or vision problems

Slurred speech

✅ What to do:

Stay calm and help them sit or lie down safely.

Check for any bumps, cuts, or immediate injuries.

Watch closely for signs of concussion — even hours later.

If symptoms appear or you’re unsure, seek medical help right away.

⚠️ Remember: Concussions aren’t always visible, but they can be serious. When in doubt, get checked out.
