Fervently utilizing her expertise within these disciplines coupled with a sincere dedication to volunteerism, she has spent over 12 years promoting holistic healing and enhancing her patient’s quality of life. She believes that the body is a self healing organism and to acquire health you must eliminate the process of disease by making sure the body is free from mental stress, chemical toxins, physical nerve pressure and all negative interferences. Dr. Karen was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She received her Bachelor’s of Sports Medicine and Kinesiology from Michigan State University. Following this achievement she was Licensed and Certified as a Neuromuscular Massage Therapist from the Academy of Somatic Healing Arts in Georgia, where she currently resides. Determined to gain full knowledge of non-medicinal physical therapy, she went on to receive her Doctorate of Chiropractic at Life University. To hone her skills Dr. Karen has worked and interned as an athletic trainer with Michigan State University, DeKalb County Public Schools, AAU Basketball of Mid-Michigan Tournaments, The National Karate Association Tournament and many more institutions. She has also worked as a massage therapist for some of the premier spas in the Atlanta area. Detroit Clean Sweep, Michigan State University Safe Place, and the Black Child and Family Institute are just a few of the organizations that Dr. Karen has enthusiastically volunteered with. She is also the founder of Upsilon Kappa Chi Sorority Incorporated, and E-STIM of Michigan State University College of Education, Kinesiology department. She is an active member of Athletes in Action, Phi Epsilon Kappa and the Kinesiology Club. Her published research and research experience include topics ranging from analysis of athletic trainers and physical therapists to Chiropractic biophysics. Outside of her professional career and volunteer efforts, Dr. Karen participates in an array of activities. A dancer for over 15 years, she has many exciting interests and hobbies. She also enjoys swimming, hiking, mountain biking, downhill skiing, basketball, tennis and many other sports. The motivation for all of her professional, volunteer and personal achievements can be summed up in one of her favorite quotes by Robert Byrne, “The purpose of life, is a life of purpose”.
