Stay inspired! Follow SPARC to learn more about adaptive fitness and upcoming events that empower and connect the disability community.

SPARC fitness & events provides adaptive personal training and community-based fitness through social participation in partnership with SHINE health & wellness.

Services align with Community Access Individual and Community Access Group goals to build mobility, stamina, balance, safe community navigation, and social engagement.

As an approved vendor, we invoice parents under CAI (1:1) for adaptive personal training and CAGfor small-group classes and events. SPARC will provide service notes for every session billed.

🌟 Did you know your CAI funds through the NOW/COMP waiver can be used for Personal Training at SHINE? 💪

If your young adult receives services through Georgia’s NOW or COMP waiver, you may be eligible to use Community Access Individual (CAI) dollars for 1-on-1 personal training at SHINE health & wellness!

CAI is designed to help individuals with developmental disabilities build skills, increase independence, and engage in meaningful community activities. At SHINE, we believe fitness is a powerful way to support all three!

Here’s how personal training through SHINE can qualify as CAI:

✅ Builds physical strength, balance, and coordination
✅ Supports social interaction and engagement in community life
✅ Increases independence and confidence
✅ Promotes health, wellness, and emotional well-being

How to Get Started:
1️⃣ Talk with your Support Coordinator and ask to add Personal Training at SHINE under your CAI services.
2️⃣ We’ll provide a letter and service outline to help with approval.
3️⃣ Once approved, your sessions can be fully funded through your waiver!

Our trainers specialize in working with young adults with special needs—and we make every session fun, safe, and empowering.

When the Storms Keep Coming by Nicole DeWard

They say April showers bring May flowers…
But what if May feels like more rain than bloom?

Lately, it’s been thunder, lightning, downpours—and not just outside. I’m hearing it from clients too: unexpected stress, setbacks, and that feeling like momentum keeps slipping away just when we thought we had a rhythm.

And yet... this is exactly where growth begins.

At SHINE, we believe in strengthening the body, but we also believe in strengthening our mindset. Because the truth is—life doesn’t follow our plan. It’s not always sunshine. Sometimes it pours.

But rain grows deep roots.

This season—whether you're in a storm, a drizzle, or a drought—is an opportunity to build endurance, to stay the course, and to grow in the face of what you can’t control. And I want to give you three simple ways to shift your mindset and build healthy momentum, rain or shine.

1. Bookend Your Day with Intention

Start your morning with five minutes of movement—stretch, walk, dance it out. End your day with five minutes of stillness—breathe, journal, or simply lie in silence. These bookends create powerful emotional anchors that stabilize your day.

Storms feel smaller when you start and finish strong.

2. Control the Controllables

You may not control the weather, your schedule, or how your body feels today. But you can control your water intake, your protein goal, your bedtime. Focus on the small wins. They stack up.

Progress comes from consistency, not perfection.

3. Keep Showing Up

Even if it’s messy. Even if it’s late. Even if you didn’t do it yesterday. Just show up today. Walk into the gym, log your food, come to small group training, or text a friend from SHINE. When in doubt, move your body and ask for support.

Showing up is 80% of staying in the game.

Remember, flowers don’t bloom because the sun always shines—they bloom because they’ve endured the rain.

You’re doing better than you think.

And you don’t have to do it alone. Whether it’s massage, detox, training, or just a listening ear—SHINE is here for you.
