Last night we brought our Sugar Hill, Sugarloaf, and Hamilton Mill referrals together for a one-of-a-kind hands-on CE course focused on innovative denture conversion solutions for full arch cases. Guests enjoyed a delicious steak dinner and drinks from Cuts Steakhouse while participating in the fabrication of a provisional Smart Denture Conversion prosthetic.

Our very own Dr. Chris Kim also shared insights from his own recent full arch cases, sparking an engaging and in-depth discussion among attendees. Last week, our AOFS team had the pleasure of hosting our top referral partners from our Newnan and Fayetteville offices for an engaging CE course on Full Arch solutions with Dr. Jay Smith. The event, hosted by Dr. Gonzalez and Dr. Yi and sponsored by Zimvie, featured a delicious dinner from Enzo and an evening of education and collaboration.

Yesterday was a great day to be a dental professional in Gainesville, GA! Our Gainesville team hosted a special Open House Lunchtime Block Party, welcoming over 150 local dentists and staff, a record turnout in AOFS history!

Guests enjoyed a delicious lunch from The Lunch Counter, sweet treats from King of Pops , and lots of exciting giveaways. Most importantly, everyone had the chance to tour our newly renovated office and meet Gainesville’s newest dedicated Oral & Maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Chris Kim.

Dr. Kim is thrilled to be here! He is already providing exceptional oral surgery care to all of Gainesville and the greater North Georgia community. This month, we’re proud to shine the spotlight on Jennifer Rakestraw, who has been a cornerstone of the AOFS team at Douglasville for an incredible 20 years!

As a Front Office Coordinator, Jennifer plays a vital role in handling checkout, ensuring that every patient experience ends with the same warmth and professionalism that defines AOFS. Her calm demeanor, attention to detail, and genuine care for patients make a lasting impression each and every day.

Brandy Whitaker shares, “Jennifer’s commitment to patient care consistently goes above and beyond expectations. She is always willing to assist wherever she’s needed, and her dependability plays a key role in ensuring the day runs smoothly. Jennifer’s positive, strong work ethic makes her an invaluable asset to our team.”

Outside of work, Jennifer is deeply involved in her church and loves exploring the outdoors, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She and her husband Shane have been married for 27 years. They are proud military parents to their daughter Morgan, a United States Marine, and hold their daughter in Heaven, Caley, close in their hearts. Their Yorkie, Buddy, rounds out their loving family

Last Thursday, we had the pleasure of hosting a special CE event at Dunwoody Country Club, led by Drs. Velez, Keim, Dillard, and Blair. The evening brought together our referring dentists and their teams for an important conversation about mental health in dentistry.
Dr. Brandon James lead an impactful presentation on the critical need for self-care in a high-pressure, fast-paced field such as ours. Together, we explored practical strategies to manage burnout, reduce anxiety, and build a healthier, more supportive workplace culture.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this meaningful evening of connection, learning, and growth. In recent months, an insurance transition at our practice resulted in unforeseen and frustrating ongoing billing and payment issues for some of our patients using Cigna Dental. We have been working diligently to resolve this issue.
Today, we are happy to announce that AOFS providers and locations are in network with Cigna. We sincerely apologize for any challenges patients have encountered in recent months. Our goal remains to provide a 5-star patient experience from the first call to the final outcome. Atlanta Oral & Facial Surgery (AOFS) has been part of the Atlanta community for 40 years. As the largest oral surgery group of its kind in the United States, we have revolutionized our patient journey into a thoughtfully designed holistic experience that addresses patient concerns and inspires confidence. Dr. Henry Blair and Dr. Martin Velez at our Roswell office specialize in a wide array of procedures including wisdom tooth and other extractions, dental implants, bone grafting, oral pathology and facial reconstruction.
