Our Story
Balance started in January of 2012 with a dream for a life of freedom and purpose fueled by Jenny Askew’s Honda Accord, endless energy, and determination.
While working a full-time job at the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, Jenny worked on obtaining and fitting in private clients before (yes BEFORE) going to work each morning and often after work as well, and even on Saturdays. Jenny drove all around the Atlanta area, seeing clients in their homes. The more Jenny worked with clients, the more clear it became that health is about so much more than calories in, calories out and exercise. She began to discover just how much diet quality matters, and how integral real food is to overall health. Fascinated with the ability of food to solve health problems for so many of her clients, Jenny pursued further education in Integrative and Functional Medical Nutrition Therapy.
It was during this time that her clientele really began to build and her husband really began to miss her (after all, she was never home). It became clear that it was time to dive into her private practice full time. In July of 2014, Jenny made the jump and opened a full-time office in Alpharetta, Georgia. Balance has been going strong ever since and continues to grow and develop more each year.
In August of 2017, Jenny and her husband were blessed with the birth of their first child (a wild and wonderful little boy they affectionately call Andrew George-can’t stop-won’t stop-I don’t need a nap-Askew). In order to take maternity leave, Jenny hired contractors {dearly loved former interns she knew and trusted well} to handle the workload while she was out of the office. When Jenny returned from leave, she decided to keep the contractors on staff to allow for better work-life balance and further growth of the business.
