Let’s talk about something so many of us experience but rarely discuss:

the stigma around seeking help for our mental health.

Here’s the truth — asking for help is not a sign of weakness. It’s a sign of strength and self-awareness.

Did you know? 1 in 5 people experience a mental health challenge each year.
You’re not alone.

For too long, society has taught us to ‘tough it out’ or ‘keep it private.’ But caring for our mental health is just as important as caring for our physical health. If you had a broken arm, you’d see a doctor, right? The same logic applies here.

Therapists, counselors, and mental health professionals are here to help. Seeking their support is courageous!

Breaking the stigma starts with each of us. Let’s normalize conversations about mental health and celebrate those who take the step toward healing.

If you’re struggling, know this: there is hope, and help is available.

✨ You deserve to feel whole. You deserve support.

👩‍⚕️ Resources are out there. You are not alone.

It’s time to change the conversation around mental health. Seeking help is a strength, not a weakness. Whether it’s through therapy, counseling, or reaching out to a trusted friend, taking that step is worth it. Let’s support each other in breaking the stigma. 💙

🪻Meet Jackie:

Jackie is a Mental Health Therapist and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor who is passionate in helping everyone find their innate purpose. You can meet Jackie in person at our office in Roswell, GA or via Telehealth.

🗓️ Jackie offers late afternoon and evening appointments too!

Here’s a little Q & A time with Jackie:

🟣 What inspired you to become a therapist?

I’ve had a very “non-linear” journey in recovery from an eating disorder and substance/alcohol abuse over the last 12 years. I didn’t feel the majority of therapists I’d meet from treatment centers were ready to challenge the existing paradigms, and I was shocked to find out how many treatment centers held onto shaming and stigmatizing narratives about addiction. I became a therapist and Clinical Rehabilitation Counselor in hopes of disrupting some of the status quo.

🟣 What do you find most rewarding about being a therapist?

Seeing the “light” turn on for clients when they realize they are capable of change they thought was impossible. Helping people feel seen and heard.

🟣 What are your areas of specialization?

Addiction and the cross-section of addiction with a myriad of issues like eating disorders, ADHD, bipolar disorder, trauma, depression/anxiety, as well as LGBTQ+ and marginalized identities. Addiction rarely occurs in a vacuum, and a one-size fits all approach isn’t always appropriate. As a CRC, I also have specialized training in disability management and adjustment.

🟣 How would you describe your approach to therapy?

I believe in a flexible approach to clients. Allowing people to find their voice and empowering them to embody their autonomy is important to me. I utilize a Relational-Cultural Theory lens so that clients know they are the experts of their lives and experiences. I am a partner rather than an authority.

🧠💛 This Thanksgiving, Let’s Give Thanks to Our Mental Health 💛🧠

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the blessings in our lives, but it’s also a great moment to acknowledge the importance of our mental health and well-being. 🦋

In a world that can feel overwhelming at times, taking care of our minds is just as essential as caring for our bodies. This year, let’s be grateful for the progress we’ve made, the strength we’ve built, and the moments of peace we’ve found — no matter how small. 🌟

💬 Remember: It’s okay to not feel okay, and it’s okay to take time for yourself, even during the holiday rush. Prioritize rest, set boundaries, and lean on your support system. ❤️

🦃 Today, let’s be thankful for self-compassion, growth, and the journey towards healing. You are worthy of peace and joy — today and every day. 🌿

🌻 Meet Michaela:

Michaela is a Mental Health Therapist who is passionate about working with children, adolescents, teens and young adults. You can meet up with Michaela in person at our office is Roswell, GA or via Telehealth.

📅 Bonus: Michaela has late afternoon, evening and weekend appointments available! 👏🏼

Here’s a little Q & A time with Michaela:

🔵 What inspired you to become a counselor?

-Going to counseling myself when I was younger, helped me to personally see the benefits of counseling and what a resource it can be. That paired with my love for learning and supporting others, led me to the mental health field.

🔵 What is your therapeutic approach and how do you tailor it to different clients?

-I am a person centered therapist that incorporates different skills from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Adlerian Therapy to support my clients. My approach to counseling is truly to meet my client wherever they are in the process, and to provide tools, insight, and support to navigate different life changes. My hope is to provide a safe and nonjudgmental space where clients can feel comfortable, sharing difficult things and feel valued through the process.

🔵 What do you find most rewarding about working in mental health?

-It’s inspiring getting to see clients grow in different ways and do things that maybe did not feel possible in the beginning. Maybe it is the vulnerability of sharing something that they have never shared before, facing fears that in the past they have avoided, or practicing self compassion when they only felt critical of themselves. I’m honored to get to join with clients and grow with them.

🔵 What is one thing you wish everyone knew about mental health?

-You are not alone in what you are walking through. Sometimes we can be surrounded by so many people and feel so alone in what we are struggling with. Vulnerability builds connection and growth. You deserve the same care and compassion that you give those around you!

🟣 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month 💜

This month, we stand together to raise awareness, offer support, and amplify the voices of survivors of domestic violence.

No one should have to suffer in silence, and healing is possible. Whether it’s finding safety, reclaiming your sense of self, or building a new life, therapy can be a powerful tool for recovery.

Therapists who specialize in trauma can help survivors process their experiences, rebuild self-esteem, and develop healthy coping strategies.

Seeking therapy is a brave step toward healing, and no matter where you are in your journey, you deserve support.

Whether you’re a survivor, know someone who’s struggling, or want to be part of the solution, your voice matters. Let’s use this time to spread love, provide resources, and foster hope for those who need it most. Together, we can break the cycle and create safe, supportive spaces for healing.

🌱 If you or someone you know needs help, don’t hesitate to reach out. Therapy and support services are available. You’re not alone. 678-381-1687🌱
