🔔 Important Update for Providence Women’s Healthcare OB Patients.

Effective March 16, 2026, Providence providers will transition labor & delivery services from Wellstar North Fulton Hospital to Emory Johns Creek Hospital (“The Birth Place”) due to unexpected changes in hospital call coverage.

👉What this means:
• Providence physicians and midwives will provide care at Emory Johns Creek Hospital, about 9 miles (20 minutes) from North Fulton.
• Coverage will be provided collaboratively with trusted OB/GYN practices.
• Your Providence team will continue your prenatal care.
• Water birth is not available at Emory Johns Creek (hydrotherapy and low-intervention labor support remain available).
•Midwives will continue to provide traditional midwifery care according to individualized birth needs.

👉If you choose to deliver at Wellstar North Fulton:
After March 15, Providence providers will not attend deliveries there. Care will be managed by the hospital’s on-call OB/GYN physicians, and midwifery services will not be available.

👉Next steps for OB patients:
• Pre-register with Emory Johns Creek Hospital
• Confirm the hospital is in-network with your insurance
• No records transfer is needed

We appreciate your understanding and will continue to keep our patients informed.

Sincerely,
Dr. Dunson-Allen & the Team at Providence Women’s Healthcare

Here are a few menopause-friendly foods to include in your meals:

🥬 Leafy greens (spinach, kale, collards) – Rich in calcium and magnesium to support bone health.

🥑 Healthy fats (avocado, nuts, olive oil) – Support hormone balance and overall wellness.

🍓 Fiber-rich fruits & whole grains – Help stabilize blood sugar and support digestive health.

Curious about the midwifery model of care? Our midwife MaryRose is here to break down what it is, the benefits, and why so many families love this approach.

The midwifery model of care is rooted in one simple belief: birth is a natural, powerful process and women deserve individualized, compassionate support every step of the way.

This model emphasizes:
🌿 Personalized, relationship-based care
🌿 Longer visits and shared decision-making
🌿 Education and informed choices
🌿 Respect for the body’s natural physiology
🌿 Minimal, evidence-based interventions
🌿 Emotional, mental, and physical support

At Providence believe you deserve to feel heard, respected, and empowered in your healthcare journey.

✨ Is It Time for Your Pap Smear?

If it’s been 3 years or more since your last Pap smear, it’s time to schedule your appointment! Staying up to date with screenings is one of the most important steps you can take for your long-term health. 💗

What’s the Difference Between a Pap Smear and a Pelvic Exam?
Many people use these terms interchangeably, but they are not the same.

🩺 Pap Smear
A Pap smear is a screening test that checks for abnormal cells on the cervix that could lead to cervical cancer. It specifically screens for changes often caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). It’s quick, routine, and lifesaving.

🩺 Pelvic Exam
A pelvic exam is a broader physical examination of the reproductive organs, including the v***a, va**na, cervix, uterus, and ovaries. It helps evaluate symptoms like pain, infections, cysts and more.

👉 You can have a pelvic exam without a Pap smear.
👉 A Pap smear is often done during a pelvic exam but they serve different purposes.

Personalized Care for Every Stage of Life

When it comes to premium quality health care you can trust, Providence Women's Health Care provides patients with a partnership where we devise health care for women by listening to your needs and desires. Our helpful and friendly staff are trained to ensure that you receive care in a clean and comfortable environment. Our team of top Obstetrics and Gynecologists, Certified Nurse Midwives, and staff handle every patient with the utmost respect, surrounding them in a serene environment that incorporates state of the art equipment with the latest medical advances and technologies in each of our locations; Dunwoody, Johns Creek and Roswell. We believe that healthcare should be a partnership between the patient and the provider. This integrated approach to medicine empowers the patient to assist in designing their healthcare journey.menopause and beyond. Our goal is to offer patient-centered care based on mutual trust and communication. The midwives are healthcare providers that are experts in natural birth and water birth. Their desire is to educate expectant parents about pregnancy, labor, and birth choices and then support them as they make informed decisions about their care. Whether they are wanting a natural birth, epidural birth, VBAC, or water birth, our midwives are able to assist each individual to meet their personal individualized goals. Providence midwives also have a relationship with multiple other professionals for referrals when needed including: massage therapists, chiropractors, doulas, childbirth educators, acupuncturists, and lactation specialists. Providence Midwifery also offers the Centering Pregnancy model of prenatal care. It is a model of group prenatal care that integrates three major components: assessment, education, and support. Patients meet with their midwife and other group participants that are at a similar gestational age in their pregnancy for an extended period of 120 minutes at regularly scheduled visits over the course of their care. Check out http://www.centeringhealthcare.org for more information on Centering Pregnancy.
