💡What's the difference between a skin graft and a flap?

A skin graft is just the skin without a blood supply, whereas a flap is transferred with its blood supply intact.

❗️Skin Graft Root Operation = Replacement
❗️Flap Root Operation = Transfer

With a flap, larger amounts of tissue can be used, including muscle if required.

🤓This is why they have different root operations.

🤓Hysterectomy ICD-10-PCS Coding Tip. When coding a total hysterectomy, removal of the cervix is not coded as a separate procedure because it is actually part of the uterus. The uterus is divided into two parts: The cervix, the lower part that opens into the va**na, and the main body of the uterus, called the corpus.
