Words can not express how proud I am of the residents of Sweden Valley Manor and their advocacy for their self-care sanctuary. Please join us tomorrow for the celebration of it's opening from 2pm-4pm.

Come celebrate with us!!! The Resident Council members of Sweden Valley Manor used their voices and advocated for the establishment of a chapel and self-care sanctuary to give a place to reflect and pray in their home. This space will be of use to all residents and visitors. Words cannot express the gratitude to HCF for giving the residents and community this space.

59 years ago today and we will continue to advocate for Older Americans rights. Have a blessed Sunday 😃

On this day in 1965, Congress passed the Older Americans Act (OAA) to provide community social services for older adults. Today, the OAA supports social and nutrition services, facilitates community service employment, and protects the rights of older adults.

Try something new in the new year, maybe music? 🎼 Research backs the brain benefits of learning to read and play music later in life. A recent report from AARP shows that learning an instrument later in life is associated with improved attention, thinking skills and mental health.

Don't let falling temperatures stop your outdoor exercise plans. Take a few extra steps to stay safe:

🏃‍♀️ Warm up and cool down, such as stretching or walking in place, to prepare and restore your muscles before and after a workout.
🧣 Pick the right clothes. Dress in several layers of loose clothing to trap warm air between them. Wear a waterproof coat or jacket if it's snowy or rainy, and don't forget a hat, scarf, and gloves.
🥾 Be extra careful around snow and icy sidewalks so you won't slip and fall. Wear sturdy shoes to give you proper footing.
🥶 Know the signs of hypothermia, a drop in body temperature that can cause serious health problems.
🌧 Check the forecast. If it's too windy, cold, or wet outside, consider an indoor workout instead using an online video or your own routine.
