Just to be clear, today’s announcement on the statewide mask mandate ending next week does NOT change our office policy.

ALL PATIENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK WHILE IN OUR OFFICE.

This is non-negotiable. I strongly encourage everyone to continue wearing a mask when out in public. Yes, numbers are low and more people are getting vaccinated, but there are multiple variant strains and we have not come close to vaccinating enough people to achieve herd immunity. Please continue to be careful, wear your masks, and get your vaccine when you can.

The office will be closed tomorrow, Friday, February 12th. We will still be available by phone and for televisits during our usual business hours. Be safe and stay warm!

WINTER WEATHER: The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for portions of Central Texas, including Round Rock until 12 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12. Cold temperatures will allow for freezing rain through most of the day and into this evening. Icing is possible on elevated roadways with accumulations up to one quarter of an inch. If you do not need to be on the roadway, stay home. If you do have to be out, please use extreme caution by reducing speed, increasing following distance, etc.

LOOKING AHEAD: The forecast maintains extremely cold temperatures throughout the weekend and into early next week with some lows reaching the teens and possibly even single digits in some areas. It's important to plan ahead for this. Please remember to bring your pets inside, protect your pipes and cover or bring in plants if you're able.

Additional winter weather (freezing rain, sleet and snow) is possible over the next several days. As always, monitor local weather reports to stay informed with the most updated information.

We still do NOT have the vaccine in office and have no idea when the state will allocate vaccines to small offices like ours. I recommend getting on several lists and get vaccinated as soon as it is offered to you.

Remember that currently group 1A (healthcare workers, residents of long-term care facilities) and group 1B (people over 65 years of age and people over 16 with at least one health condition that puts them at risk for severe illness from COVID-19) are eligible for the vaccine.

Vaccine update: my arm was sore several hours after I received the vaccine and more so the following day. Today, it’s basically back to normal. No other symptoms, but I do have the song ‘Jolene’ stuck in my head. Weird. 😉

COVID-19 Vaccine Update:

We do NOT have the vaccine in our office and unfortunately we can not locate it for you. Here are some tips for how to go about finding the vaccine.

Keep in mind that current guidelines call for vaccination for groups 1A (healthcare workers, long term care residents) and 1B (people 65 years and older and people 16 and older with at least one chronic health condition that puts them at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19). If you do NOT fall into these categories, please be patient and wait your turn.

This was taken from another physician, so I can’t vouch for all of this information. I have verified that Austin Public Health’s registration is open, but it appears that their doses are being reserved for vulnerable populations who don’t have access elsewhere.
