It hurts when you realize someone you counted on doesn’t step up. There’s a real sting in noticing you have to ask them, again and again, to help carry the bricks, pitch in, or show the same level of care. It’s not just about the work or the effort. It’s about trust and wanting to feel like you aren’t alone in building something that matters. If someone won’t reach for a brick unless you point it out, they may not be the one you want beside you when things get heavy. It’s a tough truth to swallow, and, let’s be honest, most of us have had to face it the hard way. The disappointment is real, but it also teaches you to spot the people who show up without being nudged. Let yourself feel that sting for a moment, but don’t let it harden you. Learn from it, and start building with people whose hands are already outstretched, ready to help carry the weight.
