At just 29, newly married and full of plans for the future, Kendra Foster noticed what looked like a simple rash. Within days, that small concern led to a life-changing diagnosis: acute myeloid leukemia.
Her care journey quickly became complex. With her husband by her side, Kendra underwent testing, chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, under the care of Dr. Ramakrishnan, medical director of the Sarah Cannon Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program, and the team at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center,
On Sept. 7, 2022, Kendra received a bone marrow transplant. Today, at 32, Kendra is in remission. Along the way, she found a team that helped her understand each step, delivered expert care close to home and made a difficult experience feel more personal.
