Crying
Last Signs of hungry baby.

Crying is often one of the last signs of hunger. Look for early signs, lip smacking, sucking on hands, or turning their head toward your chest. Noticing these signs early can make feeding easier and help keep your baby calm! Your WIC nutritionist or breastfeeding peer counselor can help. Have you noticed these signs in your baby? https://wicbreastfeeding.fns.usda.gov/babys-hunger-cues

Turn your next grocery trip into a fun color hunt: find a red fruit, something green, a yellow veggie, and more! When kids help pick out colorful foods, they’re more likely to try them at home. It’s also a great way to teach colors, counting, and nutrition. Getting little ones involved in grocery shopping and meal preparations builds confidence and healthy habits around food. https://ow.ly/joIp50WfISU

Your 6-week checkup is for you, not just for your baby. It’s a chance to talk with your provider about how your body is healing, how you’re feeling emotionally, and what support you might need. Write down questions ahead of time like birth control options, pain, sleep, or mood changes. You’ve taken care of your baby; this visit is a step towards caring for you! WIC is here to support you along the way. https://www.mass.gov/doc/a-guide-for-your-6-week-postpartum-checkup/download
