CASE OF THE WEEK
A patient came to the clinic with pain and redness in her left leg. She explained that about a month ago, while moving a large piece of wood at a hardware store, a splinter had lodged into her thigh. At the time, she thought she had removed it all.
Two days before her visit, the area became inflamed, red, and tender, and she noticed a small opening at the center of the wound. On exam, our provider offered to carefully explore the area. After numbing with lidocaine and making a small incision, both the patient and provider were shocked—TWO pieces of wood were removed! 🌲
The body was already trying to push the foreign objects out on its own, showing just how amazing and powerful our natural healing process can be!
