Kimberly Taylor earned her Master’s degree in Counseling from Wayne State University after achieving a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from U of M in 2000. Fluent in speaking, reading and writing Spanish, she taught Spanish in Detroit Public Schools for 10 years. During this period in her life, she discovered many hardships that troubled children of migrant families. Understanding that Migrant youth suffered emotionally, Kim began advocating for Spanish speaking kids and providing services in school and in the community. She extended her reach into helping adult immigrants navigate the societal systems, and by providing necessary support that comes from integrating into a new society. She partnered with community agencies, such as Wayne State University GEAR UP and Latino Family Services among others. While working Detroit Public Schools, she began helping to elevate the condition of women minorities and underprivileged youth in society through education. So after 10 years of teaching, she went onto becoming a licensed counselor and life coach. She began working with families, individuals, children of all ages. She recognized how she was able to help families with substance abuse issues and developed methods of helping young aged children to understand the unhealthy and damaging roles that carry into adulthood of substance abuse as a means to begin the breakdown of unhealthy patterns. She uses the following modalities and techniques among others: Trauma Focus Therapy, EFT, Person Center Kim also uses Cognitive Behavior Therapy as a model for youths among others. She specializes in helping with co-dependency issues, depression and anxiety issues, along with su***de prevention. Believing that therapy is a three legged stool that is not able to stand if one of the legs is broken, Kim’s therapeutic techniques and approaches will identify which of the “legs” or parts of you that are broken and assist you in healing those parts so that you can begin to live your life free of those burdens. She is the helping hand if you will, for those that are experiencing trauma, stress and overall depression regarding major life changes or transitions. She especially enjoys working with pre-teens/teens and guiding them through their Life Development Plan and igniting an actual plan-of-action that will help them achieve their vision of how they see their life in the future.
