Now, more than ever, people are presenting with dread and dysphoria. As a whole, we are living through some pretty difficult times.

Though, life is not meant to be a flat road; it’s riddled with turbulence, some extreme highs and sometimes some really frightening lows…

Despite the circumstances, internal or external, we need to try and focus on embracing each season, day, and moment for what it is.

⚫️Is it a lesson?
⚫️Is it a temporary pain for a long-term gain?
⚫️Could it be a blessing?
⚫️Is it a huge accomplishment?
⚫️Is it our best moment of life to date?

One thing that has really helped me with putting life into perspective is motherhood. I have one life to live and only a portion of it to spend with my child. If I wish away every day, week, or beyond, then what I’m really begging for is less time with my kid. I am also then directly and negatively impacting the pages of his story, as he didn’t get to choose his mother or how she navigates life.

One day, I will no longer physically be here… death is inevitable… so instead of skipping chapters to reach the end, I want to try my best to focus on the entirety of this one-time journey.

✨Life is spontaneous.
✨Life is beautiful.
✨Life is heartbreaking.
✨Life is humbling.
✨Life is empowering.
✨Life is dark.
✨Life is wild.

Buckle up and enjoy the ride 🚘

Communication breakdowns exacerbate relationship conflict.

Have you ever caught yourself during an argument saying, “You know what I meant!”

Well, maybe, they didn’t…

⚫️Did you assume that your outer world was tapped into your inner monologue?

⚫️Did you think that your relationships should just always apply what you deem to be your core values to every scenario, no matter the situation or context?

⚫️Did you fail to directly, appropriately communicate your feelings, ideas, perspectives, or concerns?

⚫️Did you leave any space for interactive feedback or ultimately resolution?

We must develop the the following skills to effectively navigate conflict within our relationships:

✨First and foremost, assess and evaluate what is going on with us internally
✨Find the best way to effectively communicate those thoughts and feelings to others
✨Act or behave in a way that supports those thoughts and feelings
✨Remain open to being challenged with different, opposing, or novel perspectives
✨Lean into mutual resolution, as opposed to winning

Conflict does not have to end with agreeing to the exact same thing or even “agreeing to disagree.” We can find a space that satisfies both parties, if we let go of our expectations and instead aim to express ourselves thoughtfully, actively listen to the other party, and leave feeling heard, understood, and respected!

A little bit about the therapist...

I grew up in Metro Detroit. I attended Michigan State University, graduating with a degree in Psychology. After which, I completed my Masters in Social Work, concentration in Interpersonal Practice Mental Health, at the University of Michigan. While I worked full-time in the field of social work/mental health, I decided to go back to the University of Michigan to obtain my Masters in Business Administration.

I always knew that I wanted to "help people," as cliche as that might sound. There was no other option for my life than to devote myself to encouraging others, supporting them during their most difficult times, and providing them the tools to find a renewed sense of happiness or purpose.

I have a very diverse background in the field of social work/mental health. I wanted to ensure that I obtained the most knowledge possible, as to feel comfortable in addressing all types of issues that my clients might face. The following are some of my roles throughout my years as a mental health professional: inpatient psychiatric therapist, outpatient therapist for survivors of domestic violence/sexual assault, community-based therapist for those struggling with severe mental illness and co-occurring disorders (substance use disorder primarily), behavioral health case manager, clinical social worker on an internal med floor, and medical social work supervisor at a hospice company.

The goal of opening my own private practice was to serve my clients in a way that is most beneficial to them, not limited by insurance guidelines, outdated or rigid practices, or being confined to a chaise lounge in a stuffy office. I meet my clients in the community and provide services via phone/video platform. I want therapy/life-coaching to be an experience that works for each client in whatever way she or he sees fit. I am dedicated to optimal service and extremely excited to put a new spin on the field of mental health and wellness.
