❄️Texas Ice Is Coming — Here’s How to Stay Off the Injury List❄️
With freezing temps and icy roads headed our way, slip-and-fall injuries spike every time this happens in North Texas. When ice hits, the body relies heavily on the hips and core to keep you upright. When those aren’t working well, the fall happens fast.
The most common ice-related injuries we see:
• Low back strains & disc flare-ups
• Hip & pelvis injuries
• Knee sprains & meniscus irritation
• Wrist & shoulder injuries from catching yourself
• Neck pain and headaches after falls
How to protect yourself this week:
✔️ Take shorter, slower steps
✔️ Keep your center of gravity low
✔️ Use handrails whenever possible
✔️ Wear shoes with traction (not slick soles)
✔️ Avoid carrying heavy items on icy surfaces
✔️ If you fall, get checked — don’t “walk it off”
Even minor falls can cause hidden joint, ligament, or disc injuries that don’t show up until days later. Headaches, back pain, hip pain, or stiffness after a slip are NOT normal and shouldn’t be ignored.
If you or a family member slips during this storm, get evaluated early — it’s far easier to treat a small injury than a chronic one.
Stay safe, stay upright, and we’re here if you need us. 💪
