As we dive into a brand new week (fully rested and slightly sunburnt), we’re still riding the wave of joy after the most epic Water Week yet!

With water slides, splash pads, balloon games, and all the watermelon they could eat, our kids had an absolute blast. The days were filled with laughter and nonstop fun. We may be a little biased, but we have the BEST staff, kids, and families to share these moments with. It’s clear these memories will last a lifetime. Water Week 2025, you truly were one for the books!

Remember it is Water Week at Shining Star! Make sure your child comes ready with a swimsuit, towel, water bottle, sunscreen, and an extra set of clothes. We are going to have a blast splashing, playing, and staying cool all week long!

✨ Staff Spotlight ✨

Asia is a Registered Behavior Technician and fieldwork supervisee who’s working hard to become a BCBA, with graduation just around the corner next year. We’re all cheering her on and can’t wait to see what she accomplishes!

Asia brings a gentle and compassionate spirit to every session, always aiming not only to support each child’s progress but also to ensure they feel truly cared for and know she’s their biggest cheerleader. Plus, she’s famous around here for rocking the coolest neurodivergent-affirming shirts, and we absolutely love it!

A few fun things to know about Asia:
- She loves caramel coffee and fresh fruit.
- Her husband and kids are her biggest supporters.
- She has two dogs, Maple and Ferggie, and nine guinea pigs.
- She holds a Master’s in Gifted Education and taught K–1 for 16 years.

Outside of work, Asia enjoys family time, reading, writing, and exercising. We're grateful for all the heart she brings to our clinic, so don’t forget to say hello and show your appreciation! 💜

Summer’s here, but our love for books isn’t going anywhere! The Summer Bookmobile stopped by this week, and we’re so thankful to the amazing team behind it for bringing the joy of reading to our kiddos. You help us keep therapy fun, engaging, and full of adventure!

✨ Staff Spotlight ✨

Meet Victoria, a vibrant BCBA who brings creativity, knowledge, and fresh ideas to every child’s case. Her thoughtful approach and free spirit make her a valued team member.

In the clinic, Victoria’s favorite phrases are “Get your words” (about using communication devices) and “Let’s talk about it.” These are not just her go-to sayings; they are also her favorite skills to work on, helping kiddos advocate for themselves and share their needs.

Outside the clinic, Victoria enjoys spending time with loved ones, shopping, event planning, and decorating. She also runs a non-profit, The Mercy Market, which provides free food and hygiene essentials through community hubs. Passionate about making a difference, Victoria plans to soon pursue a doctorate in Clinical Psychology to help reduce wait times for Autism evaluations, ensuring children receive early support during their most critical years of development.

✨ Staff Spotlight ✨

Meet Jeremy Johnson, co-owner of our clinic and a key part of Shining Star’s mission. He’s passionate about building community connections and supporting pediatric therapy.

One of his proudest accomplishments? “Having the best staff.” He shows his appreciation with team lunches and plenty of laughs as the office comedian.

Outside the clinic, Jeremy enjoys spending time with his wife, Madison, and their two children. He loves hanging out with his dogs, Jetson and Percy, and staying active. One of his favorite ways to stay moving is running. He's a true fitness enthusiast who even completed an Ironman a few years ago, a testament to his grit and dedication.

Fueled by Ghost energy drinks and audiobooks, Jeremy dreams of eating his way through Italy and helping expand our clinic into a larger space. We’re incredibly lucky to have him as a co-owner, motivator, and teammate.

Meet Ms. Dija, a one-to-one RBT who has been with Shining Star for 6 months. From the moment she joined our team, Dija has brought warmth, energy, and compassion into every session. Her dedication to her clients, eagerness to learn, and ability to lift the spirits of those around her make her a true beacon of light in our clinic. We’re so lucky to have her on our team!

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her two adorable sons, reading, shopping, and binge-watching her favorite TV shows.

Fun Facts about Dija:
- She has a beautiful singing voice
- Her go-to snacks are Hot Fries and Reese’s Cups
- She dreams of traveling to Italy for the scenery

Last week, we planned a field trip to the Royston Public Library, but surprise! It was closed when we got there. So what did we do? We jumped into adventure mode and turned it into a fun trip to Wendy’s, where each of our kids ordered a Frosty! 🍦

Huge shoutout to our flexible team and amazing kids who turned an unexpected change into a special day, and thank you to Royston PD for safely guiding us across the street. We truly appreciate your care and support in keeping our children and staff safe.

Kicking off the series is Madison Johnson, our Owner and Speech-Language Pathologist.

Madison’s proudest moment has been growing Shining Star from one little room into a full building filled with amazing therapists. She’s proud that Shining Star now offers comprehensive pediatric therapy services all under one roof. Her favorite snack is anything sweet and salty, and in her free time, she enjoys reading, doing puzzles, and spending time with her husband and their two children.
