I built this little cabinet over 20 years ago. I also did the tin punching in the door, I use it in my living history setup for both civil war and Revolutionary war. It keeps my modern items out of site and of course gives a replicated touch to my canvas home. The weeping willow has long had many meaning on tin punching as well as cemetery art on headstone dating back to the 16th century I believe. David Gillespie would know best the dates of the funerary art timeline. The cabin is Fort Yargo, a place that hold family ties as we knew the folks that lived there before it was moved to its 3rd location, I was also married at Fort Yargo many many moons ago. So I added something meaningful to the cabinet. Thinking about making another one similar along with a shaker table if I can find someone to turn the legs for me as I never developed the talent for lathe turning. However right now I have

On 19 April 1775 the Patriots of 13 Colonies threw off the Yoke of British tyranny and the taxes they relentlessly imposed upon them. 249 years later we are back in the same position with different tyrannical leaders. It’s time to remove the yoke again.

A Legacy of Home & Healing

Part of my mother’s family came to the Colonies in 1748 after the Jacobite uprising in Scotland to escape persecution and slaughter. We arrived on these new shores with all the hopes and dreams just like any other that came to find a new life in the Colonies, We were farmers and healers living close to the land, we brought with us the knowledge of healing herbs and plants, but had no knowledge of the bounty in what would become America. We added to our knowledge from the Native People of the North Georgia living in Peace with these Wonderful people who had so much knowledge to share of their homeland. 269 years later we are still a family of healers and farmers, no need to change what works, The family homestead is long gone to the winds of time and change and nothing remains but the memories and knowledge passed down from one child to the next. I do my best to honor those that came before me and carry on the tradition on natural remedies and natural food farmed with the same methods my forbearers used, no modern chemicals are used on our farm, manure from our horses & chickens, bone & fish meal, are used to fertilize the earth, we still get our water from a well and spring that goes to water, We use the historical method of planting by the moon phases to plant our crops and utilize the 3 sisters method of the Native Americans. All of our herbs, veggies are heirloom and come from trusted sources like Baker Creek, Strictly Medicinal and Whole Seeds. We make sure they are not GMO. So all the Natural goodness comes to you and your family.
