LEAD Therapeutic Riding is among New Mexico's premier equine-assisted therapy programs.

The healing power of the horse/human connection positively impacts the cognitive, physical, emotional and social well-being of children and families in our community.

💙 In recognition of World Autism Awareness Day, we celebrate the very special riders in the LEAD Therapeutic Riding community who have autism and whose special gifts and friendship brighten our spirits one ride and one lesson at a time.

We are especially proud of our long-time rider Jacob, who faithfully attends LEAD sessions weekly with his family and has experienced incredible growth, confidence and independence. Jacob, we love you and are so very proud of the wonderful young man you are!

LEAD Therapeutic Riding exists to serve the unique developmental, emotional and mental health needs of any child in our community who needs us. If your family would like to learn more, please contact us!

LEAD Therapeutic Riding is currently accepting nominations to serve on our Board of Directors.

If you or someone you know has a passion for our mission and a willingness to help grow our organization, please submit a nomination form for consideration.

Board members are asked to:

✅ Attend and actively participate in quarterly Board meetings (in person or virtually)

✅ Advance the mission of LEAD through both advisory and hands-on strategic, operational, financial and
fundraising best practices.

✅ Support and contribute to the organization's annual fundraising goals

✅ Attend and support community and fundraising events benefitting LEAD.

Priority consideration will be given to individuals with specific skills and expertise (such as finance, fundraising,
nonprofit management, pediatric/adolescent health care, or related subjects); community connections;
philanthropic leadership and/or fundraising capabilities; and/or prior experience with LEAD Therapeutic Riding.

🌸 Spring is in the air and that means one thing: LEAD's spring session is starting soon! Our first session of 2026 begins on Friday, April 3.

RIDERS / FAMILIES ➡️ Our Spring Session is already full and we currently have a waiting list. If you'd like to be added to the waiting list or be notified when the Summer Session opens for registration, let us know.

Horse enthusiasts gathered at the South Broadway Cultural Center last Friday, March 6 to view the film screening of “Rescued Hearts,” and were treated to evening of storytelling, emotional connection, and a meet and greet with the filmmakers.

A huge THANK YOU to my mom and sister for making these amazing custom stall signs for our LEAD horses. Each one captures the personality and heart of the horses who do so much healing every single day.

JR, Cruz, Cueball, MC Gee, and BG officially have the coolest stalls in the barn — and our space feels even more special because it was made with love.

Grateful for family who believes in this mission and helps bring it to life in the most beautiful ways. ✨

We love seeing photos from his glory days in the roping arena— and we’re endlessly thankful to the generous donor who saw his potential for an even bigger purpose.

Now Cueball spends his days helping riders build strength, confidence, and joy… and honestly, he’s still a champion. 🐴✨
