LEAD Therapeutic Riding

LEAD Therapeutic Riding is among New Mexico's premier equine-assisted therapy programs.

The healing power of the horse/human connection positively impacts the cognitive, physical, emotional and social well-being of children and families in our community.

🎄🌟🎁 We're celebrating the countdown to Christmas and today we celebrate the gift of HEALTH.

Some of the children in our program live on the poverty line and experience food insecurity, unsure of where or when their next meal will be available.

Others simply work up a hearty appetite during their equine therapy session, which can be both physically and mentally demanding for some of our riders.

No matter the need, LEAD is there to fill stomachs as well as spirits. Any child in need of food will get it when they're with us, no questions asked.

Who would we be without these four steadfast workers and friends? They are truly the best "employees" any organization could ever wish for! 🐴

We are blessed to have some of the most dedicated and passionate volunteers around!

From working with riders in the ring to baking treats and assisting with our annual Christmas party to helping raise awareness of our mission in the community, we are so grateful for every minute and every hour that is donated to the cause.

Children with developmental, physical and mental health challenges—from Down Syndrome and cerebral palsy to autism and anxiety—find hope and healing.

In just ONE 1-hour lesson, the immediate, powerful connection between child and horse makes magic happen.

Since opening our doors just two years ago, we've helped 50 kids and counting. And with help from generous friends and supporters like you, we can help even more in 2026!

Our mission is simple: Helping children and young adults with developmental, physical and behavioral challenges find hope and healing through the power of equine-assisted therapy.

And, we do all of this for FREE at no cost to the families we serve, the majority of whom are already stretched thin with the day-to-day financial burdens of caring for children with special needs.

As a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, we rely 100% on private donations to make our mission possible.
