Rumford Hospital provides River Valley residents with local access to a wide array of healthcare services, including comprehensive primary care, sophisticated diagnostic and medical-surgical nursing services, a birthing center, women's health, and ambulatory surgery. The Swing Bed program provides care for patients who need skilled nursing services. Through its affiliation with Central Maine Medical Center, RH hosts clinics with physicians in a number of specialties. The hospital also offers an array of education and wellness and prevention services.

💙 Congratulations to Carrie Whitmore, RN, team leader in Oncology, for receiving this year’s Amanda Dempsey Award!

Carrie and her team raised an incredible $25,000 at this year’s Dempsey Challenge — and over the past 10 years since her breast cancer diagnosis, they’ve raised more than $165,000 to support the Dempsey Center. Carrie first turned to the center for her young daughters, then later found her own support in the women’s group. Today, she gives back in ways that inspire us all. ✨

Exciting moments from the Dempsey Challenge stage!

Brandon Hotham, CEO of the Dempsey Center, joined Patrick Dempsey and Sarah Henderson, system director of oncology for CMH to share with the crowd that the Dempsey Center will be relocating from its current site at 29 Lowell Street into the Cancer Care Center on CMMC’s High Street campus. 💙 The Lowell Street location closed on September 11, and the new space will begin welcoming clients on September 29.

This transition reflects an exciting future, where patients and families can more easily access both care and support, all in one place. 🌟

🥇🌍 From Maine to the World Games!

Ian Engler, MD, of Central Maine Healthcare Orthopedics, traveled to Chengdu, China as the team physician for the U.S. National Ultimate team at the World Games, an international competition often called the “second-tier Olympics” for sports not included in the Olympics.

With Dr. Engler on the sidelines, Team USA brought home the gold with a nail-biting 13–12 win over Canada in the finals! 🇺🇸✨

In addition to supporting the top Ultimate players in the country, Dr. Engler also provided care to athletes from other countries and sports — including martial artists from Cameroon and a fistball player from New Zealand. 💪

We’re proud to see Dr. Engler representing CMH on the world stage and helping athletes stay at the top of their game. 💙

We’re celebrating the graduation of our very first surgical technology students — Achsah Davis and Suzanne Keene! 👏

Achsah and Suzanne completed an intensive “earn to learn” program, becoming nationally certified surgical technologists. They’re now joining our surgical teams across Central Maine Healthcare hospitals, bringing their skills and dedication straight to patient care. 💙

This week, Kate Stratton from Ryan's Case for Smiles – Central Maine Chapter dropped off about 100 handmade pillowcases for our pediatric patients. 🌸🦋

With bright colors and cheerful patterns, these pillowcases bring smiles, comfort, and a sense of home to children in the hospital. It’s all part of Ryan’s Case for Smiles’ mission: Helping kids feel better to heal better.

We’re so grateful for Kate’s generosity and the joy these will bring to our patients and families. 💜
