Today is Medical Student Match Day! 🎉

After four years of rigorous didactic training, and over 5000 hours of clinical training, today is the day that medical students across the country find out where they will continue their graduate medical education as resident physicians.

Match Day marks a major milestone—the transition from medical school to residency, where physicians enter specialized training to learn their specialty. Over the next 3-7 years, resident physicians will deepen their clinical skills and become experts in their fields. Physician education is strictly regulated by the government, but the long weeks of working 80 hours a week for pennies on the dollar will pay off as the new doctors hone their craft, learn every day, and help change people's lives.

Thirteen years ago, I found out that I matched into a very special rural Family Medicine training program, right here in the River Valley. It was my top choice program! I am very proud to have been taught by dedicated and brilliant mentors. I am also incredibly lucky to have worked alongside talented and generous clinical and non-clinical staff, many of whom have become lifelong friends.

Avoiding UV exposure (use sunscreen!) and avoiding damaging substances (smoking/vaping) are the best things that anyone can do to preserve a youthful appearance.

For some wrinkles, topical skin care products/treatments/medications are the answer. For those deeper wrinkles caused by repetitive movement of facial muscles, a neuromodulator like Botox can help!
