Create Power Yoga At Create Power Yoga, we create a space where each person can feel safe and honored
Start your journey with our community. Why Yoga?

We are passionate about creating a community where each person feels safe and honored as their authentic self. We realize that everyone has different goals and reasons for coming to the mat; our mission is to honor each student in a peaceful, friendly, and non-judgemental environment. We offer consistent, challenging experiences in our classes, while helping you learn to choose what is best for your body and practice. After just one class, yoga reduces stress levels, increases flexibility, and improves brain function. Stick with your practice, and yoga lowers blood pressure, improves lung capacity, relieves chronic neck and back pain, lowers blood sugar levels, strengthens bones, improves balance, increases strength, and significantly decreases anxiety. Yoga with us will give you these benefits, and a community to support you in your goals. Whether you are a brand new student attending your first class or a seasoned yogi looking to take your practice to the next level, we invite you to meet us on your mat and let our compassionate, experienced teachers guide you in developing your own personal practice. We are located in East Providence, RI, and serve the Greater Providence area (Providence, Rumford, East Providence, Pawtucket, Seekonk, Rehoboth & beyond).

Something every one of these yoga teachers knows? Feeling supported by your community when you show up for practice is the #1 thing that gets us to class when it's hard.

Joint Statement from Rhode Island Yoga Studio Owners

After reflecting on the events of recent days, weeks, and months, our yoga studios would like to share the following statement with our community.

Although our classes often center on physical postures (asana), yoga is a comprehensive philosophy for how to live in the world. It calls us to recognize the inherent dignity of every being and to take action when that dignity is violated. The Bhagavad Gita teaches that practice without compassionate action is incomplete.

We look to the Yamas and Niyamas - the universal moral principles of yoga - for guidance. In the current climate, we see these principles being openly violated and our practice makes our responsibilities clear:

Ahimsa (Non-Violence): ICE is enacting physical and psychological violence against our communities.
We have a responsibility to confront systems that perpetuate harm.

Satya (Truthfulness): Individuals in power have lied openly, defying clear evidence.
We have a responsibility to align our actions with reality and integrity.

Asteya (Non-Stealing): Our taxpayer dollars, meant to benefit our communities, have been misused to fund these actions.
We have a responsibility to protect from theft the freedom, agency, and safety of all beings.

Brahmacharya (Self-Control): A profound lack of discipline and restraint within ICE escalates danger in every encounter.
We have a responsibility to demand that systems of authority be exercised with care, transparency, and accountability.

Aparigraha (Non-Hoarding): The actions of ICE are fueled by a belief that resources must be hoarded and that power comes from domination.
We have a responsibility to ensure all beings are cared for and their innate worth is honored.

Therefore, we stand in solidarity with the National Strike against ICE. We join in unity to mourn the lives of Keith Porter Jr., Renee Good, and Alex Pretti. We stand with all those disappeared by ICE and with those left behind without answers. We stand with the people of Minnesota, Maine, and every community where escalating immigration enforcement inflicts deep and lasting trauma.

We commit to supporting affected communities, sharing awareness and resources, and participating in collective action. Each undersigned studio has chosen a mutual aid organization to support, and we encourage our members to do the same.

This is our practice in action.

In solidarity with the ICE OUT national strike, all classes at our studios will be free on Friday, January 30.

We offer our space as a place to calm your nervous system, grieve, and gather in supportive community. As always, all staff will be paid for their time. Staff and students may direct funds toward mutual aid as they see fit. We encourage you to visit Stand With Minnesota, a list of aid organizations, at https://www.standwithminnesota.com/

If you had already registered for a Friday class, we are currently working to move you into the free class; your purchased credit will remain on your account for future use.

We are proud of our Rhode Island yoga studio community for coming together in solidarity during this strike. Thank you to Providence Power Yoga, Rhode Island Hot Yoga, and Roots Yoga for joining this National Strike with free classes as well. ➡️ Stay tuned, we have more to say.

Yoga studio 🟢 flag? The staff loves and supports each other.

In a healthy, supportive studio, the teachers go to each other’s classes. There isn’t rivalry between instructors. There is an active mentorship program that fosters a sense of unity between experienced and newer instructors. In an environment focused on curiosity and learning, teachers all gain insights from each other and value continuous growth. The teachers and staff treat each other kindly and value each other’s contributions to the community.

All of this trickles down to students in the form of connection, authenticity, and non-judgement.

The making of a hands on adjustment consent chip, with some help from the kiddos.

These 🟢/🔴 disks let your teacher know fit pure okay with hands on adjustments, or want only verbal assists. Place one at the front of your mat at the start of class.

Touch can be a powerful tool for understanding your body's position and engagement in a yoga posture. Touch is also personal and meaningful, and our feelings about it can change day-to-day.

Our consent chips ensure that you always get to choose and communicate your preferences on touch in a simple way, so that we can all work to ensure your yoga practice feels safe and authentic to you.

Choose 🔴 for verbal cues only
Choose 🟢 if you're okay with informed, purposeful touch to guide you.

Yin Yoga Popup, Friday, January 16, 6-7:30 pm.

If you’ve been lifting, flowing, or running, Yin is the piece that helps everything else work better.

Tight hips, stiff lower back, tired legs? Yin targets the connective tissues that hold your body together.

Longer holds = deeper release.

You don’t have to be flexible. You just have to be willing to soften.

Treat yourself to 90 minutes of heart-opening postures to gently create space across the chest, shoulders, and upper back.

Visit https://createpoweryoga.com/events/ to hold your spot.
