Yearly mammography should begin for every woman starting at age 40. There are a few circumstances, such as family history or symptomatic issues, where a woman would begin before that age. Mammography has been around for many years, but the myths of the exam being scary and tortious are a thing of the past.

Technology has provided better ways to perform this exam to make it less uncomfortable for patients. We as technologists truly strive to make this exam the best experience. Whether woman are anxious about the actual exam or the results, we try our best to provide a calm, safe environment. We want our patients to feel comfortable expressing their questions and concerns before, during and after exam.

Ensuring woman have a great experience will keep them coming back for continued exams and encourage family and friends to do the same. We cannot prevent breast cancer from happening, but we can catch it at its earliest stages so women receive the best outcome.
