Oakwood Sherwood Cemetery Oakwood (Sherwood) Cemetery was established in 1866 by MN Lt. Governor Charles D. Sherwood as a publ The cemetery was established in 1866.

The Oakwood (Sherwood) Cemetery is located in South Rushford, Township-City of Rushford Village, Minnesota. In November 1870, Charles Sherwood recorded a plat of the Oakwood Cemetery burial grounds with the Fillmore County Recorder. Sherwood continued selling burial plots in the plotted cemetery. Approximately two dozen people were buried in the Oakwood Cemetery after 1870. For many years the cemetery was neglected. In 2012 a group of citizens filed Articles of Incorporation of Oakwood (Sherwood) Cemetery Association with both the Minnesota Secretary of State on August 22, 2012 and Fillmore County Recorder on August 23, 2012. Since 2012 the board of directors has continued to revive the use of this cemetery.
