Reminder: The Porch provides Narcan, Fentynal test strips, and Xylazine test strips. Although this substance can not be tested through strips yet it can be reversed with Narcan but with it being so strong you may need to use multiple doses of Narcan. Carry more than one Narcan with you. This is a CONFIDENTIAL service. We keep this service private for the safety of the person in need and the safety of our community. If you need these products and are worried about privacy please create a text now phone number and text 765-561-4109 with the supplies you need and give a location to drop off at. This could be as simple as me dropping off supplies and putting them in mailbox, grill, even a tree trunk. No questions asked I do not need to meet you face to face. Test your supply, carry Narcan, and keep your people safe!

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is issuing this alert to the community regarding the emergence of Cychlorphine (also known as N-Propionitrile Chlorphine), a synthetic opioid significantly more powerful than fentanyl. Recently detected in major regional hubs, including Chicago, this substance has been linked to a rising number of fatal overdoses across the Midwest, including Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

Why This is a Threat
Cychlorphine is a "designer drug" that presents unique challenges for families, first responders, and medical professionals:

Extreme Potency: Preliminary data indicate Cychlorphine is approximately 10 times more potent than fentanyl. Even a microscopic amount, smaller than a grain of salt, can be immediately fatal.

Invisible to Test Strips: Unlike many other synthetic drugs, Cychlorphine will not trigger a positive result on standard fentanyl test strips. Users and families may believe a substance is "safe" from fentanyl, while it contains this even more lethal additive.

Naloxone (Narcan) Resistance: Due to the way this drug binds to the brain, a single dose of Narcan may not be enough to reverse an overdose. Multiple doses are often required to save a life.

What to Look For -
Cychlorphine is often hidden in the illicit drug supply and may appear as:
Powder: Typically off-white, grey, or tan.
Counterfeit Pills: Frequently pressed to look like legitimate prescription medications, such as Oxycodone (M30 pills) or Hydromorphone.
Adulterant: It is commonly mixed into other drugs like he**in, methamphetamine, or "Tranq" (Xylazine) without the user’s knowledge.

Safety Recommendations -
One Pill Can Kill: Never consume any medication that was not prescribed specifically for you by a licensed physician and dispensed by a legitimate pharmacy.

Carry Narcan: Despite its potency, Naloxone is still the primary tool for reversing an overdose. If you suspect an overdose, administer Narcan immediately and call 911.

Be Prepared for Multiple Doses: If the individual does not respond to the first dose of Narcan, continue administering additional doses every 2-3 minutes until emergency personnel arrive.

"We are in the direct pipeline between Chicago and Louisville, while not everything that happens in those places happens here, we should be aware of this potential threat. We are sharing this information now to ensure our citizens, hospitals, and first responders are prepared for this high-potency threat." - Sheriff Kerry Forestal

What is The Porch of Recovery and why are we here?
We are a grassroots non profit organization. In 2020 a group of like minded individuals gathered and thought, What if we had a building to help provide the most minimum but important resources? What if this building had essential resources but also a warm environment, like coming home to Grandma's house.

What do we envision?
We would be open a few days a week providing free showers, free laundry, a clothing closet, a warming station, peers to talk to and professional peers to help you find resources along with getting you to those resources, a meal every week and an assortment of self help meetings to have the opportunity to see what recovery path works best for you. A safe place to go.

Who are we here for?
We want this for individuals in our community that are struggling. Whether they are struggling with mental health, substance use disorder, poverty, even someone simply going through a rough patch.

This is called a Recovery Center

What are we doing right now?
We provide individuals with a weekly meeting that accepts ALL pathways of recovery, we carry and disperse Narcan, we host monthly recovery activities that help prevent substance use and promote mental health. We have free peer coaching and educational workshops.

Currently we have not found a building but we stay hopeful that one day our dream will come true! Until we have a building please reach out if you are in need of anything that we can provide.
