What is The Porch of Recovery and why are we here?
We are a grassroots non profit organization. In 2020 a group of like minded individuals gathered and thought, What if we had a building to help provide the most minimum but important resources? What if this building had essential resources but also a warm environment, like coming home to Grandma's house.

What do we envision?
We would be open a few days a week providing free showers, free laundry, a clothing closet, a warming station, peers to talk to and professional peers to help you find resources along with getting you to those resources, a meal every week and an assortment of self help meetings to have the opportunity to see what recovery path works best for you. A safe place to go.

Who are we here for?
We want this for individuals in our community that are struggling. Whether they are struggling with mental health, substance use disorder, poverty, even someone simply going through a rough patch.

This is called a Recovery Center

What are we doing right now?
We provide individuals with a weekly meeting that accepts ALL pathways of recovery, we carry and disperse Narcan, we host monthly recovery activities that help prevent substance use and promote mental health. We have free peer coaching and educational workshops.

Currently we have not found a building but we stay hopeful that one day our dream will come true! Until we have a building please reach out if you are in need of anything that we can provide.

The Porch of Recovery supports all pathways to recovery. Join us Tuesday as we all take turns practicing a piece of Dharma recovery with the singing bowl, where we can learn how to use sound therapy to meditate in our daily lives.
Check it out:
Dharma recovery music bowl meditation combines the principles of Recovery Dharma (a Buddhist-inspired path for addiction recovery) with the calming sounds of Tibetan singing bowls for stress relief, mindfulness, and inner peace, using resonant tones to quiet the mind and body, often integrated into guided sessions or personal practice. While Recovery Dharma uses mindfulness, specific singing bowl use can vary, with some finding the sounds deeply soothing and others sensitive to high pitches, leading to variations like gentle tapping.
Key Components & How They Work
Recovery Dharma Principles: Focuses on empowerment, mindfulness, and connection, using Buddhist concepts like Mettā (lovingkindness) for healing.
Singing Bowls: Handmade in Nepal, these bowls produce unique tones and vibrations from mixed metals, used to promote relaxation and balance.
Meditation Practice: Involves deep breathing, focusing on body sensations, and then shifting attention to the bowl's sounds and harmonics, returning to breath when distracted.
Sound Therapy: The resonant frequencies help melt stress, quiet the mind, and create a sense of harmony, suitable for yoga, sleep, or daily wind-downs.
