Three years of resilience. Three years of growth. Three years of purpose. 🌟
On 2/8, Dakota Melton celebrated 3 years in recovery. Dakota is a SPARC graduate who has now been on staff for over 2.5 years, serving as a Peer Support Specialist and stepping into leadership as our second shift supervisor. The same place that once helped him rebuild his life is now the place where he helps others do the same.
“Reaching three years of sobriety has been one of the most transformative journeys of my life. In the beginning, the days felt long and uncertain, and I often wondered who I was without the crutch I had relied on for so long. Over time, though, I began to rediscover parts of myself that had been buried beneath addiction. Each milestone felt impossible until it was behind me, and that realization slowly built my confidence. I learned how to sit with difficult emotions instead of running from them, which was both uncomfortable and empowering. Relationships that were once strained have grown stronger because I can now show up fully and honestly. I have gained clarity in my thinking and a steadiness in my decisions that I never had before. There are still hard days, but they no longer control me or define my choices. Sobriety has given me the gift of remembering my experiences instead of regretting them. I have developed healthier routines and found new passions that bring genuine joy. Celebrating three years is not just about the time that has passed, but about the resilience and growth that time represents. Most of all, it has shown me that change is possible and that I am capable of building a life I am proud to live.”
Seeing lives like Dakota’s truly transformed is why we do what we do. We are grateful to witness lives turn around every single day.
Help us celebrate Dakota and his 3 years in recovery! 🌟
