Today, we pause to honor and remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001. We also pay tribute to the brave first responders who answered the call without hesitation, many of whom made the ultimate sacrifice while working to save others.

As we reflect on this day, let us never forget the courage, selflessness, and unity that emerged in the face of tragedy. May we continue to honor their memory by carrying forward that same spirit of service and resilience in our own lives and community.

We will never forget.

Stay Informed Saturday! 🚨

A new Arkansas law will be enacted (August 4th, 2025) to enhance the safety and protection of healthcare workers while performing their duties.

New Law: Arkansas Statute 5-13-215

"5-13-215. Aggravated assault upon a healthcare worker.
(a) A person commits the offense of aggravated assault upon a healthcare worker if he or she, under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the personal hygiene and safety of the healthcare worker, purposely engages in conduct that creates a potential danger of infection to the healthcare worker while the healthcare worker is engaged in the course of his or her employment by causing a person whom the actor knows to be a healthcare worker to come into contact with saliva, blood, urine, f***s, seminal fluid, or other bodily fluid by purposely throwing, tossing, expelling, or otherwise transferring the fluid or material.
(b) Aggravated assault upon a healthcare worker is a Class D felony.
(c) This section does not amend, modify, or affect:
(1) The provisions of § 9-27-318(g) or § 9-27-318(h)(2), which require a finding to transfer a juvenile case to circuit court for prosecution as an adult to be supported by clear and convincing evidence; or
(2) The provisions of §§ 5-2-327 and 5-2-328 governing the determination of a defendant’s fitness to proceed in a criminal case."

Key Points:

The law specifically addresses intentional conduct that exposes healthcare workers to bodily fluids, such as saliva, blood, urine, f***s, and seminal fluid, thereby creating a potential risk of infection.

This offense is classified as a Class D felony, which is a serious criminal charge in Arkansas.

The statute clarifies that it does not change procedures relating to juvenile cases or determinations of a defendant’s fitness to proceed in criminal court.

This law aims to provide additional legal protection to healthcare professionals, recognizing the risks they face while delivering care.

🚑 Pull to the Right for Sirens and Lights! 🚑

When you see red lights flashing and sirens sounding, we need your help to get where we’re going — fast.

Whether we’re responding to a medical emergency or transporting someone to the hospital, every second matters. Please:

👉 Move to the right
👉 Come to a complete stop
👉 Stay stopped until we pass

It’s not just courteous — it’s the law. Most importantly, it could help save a life.

Let’s work together to keep our community safe.
Thank you for helping us help others. ❤️

🚑 “Be curious, not judgmental.” – Walt Whitman

In Emergency Medical Services, we’re called to people on what is often the worst day of their lives. Behind every call — whether it’s a car accident, an overdose, a fall, or a mental health crisis — there is always more to the story than what we see on the surface.

At Pope County EMS, we strive to approach every patient, every situation, with curiosity and compassion instead of judgment.

We don’t ask, “Why did this happen?” to criticize — we ask to understand.
We don’t assume — we listen.
We don’t define people by a single moment — we meet them where they are and provide care with dignity.

Whether it’s a child who’s scared, a parent in pain, or someone struggling with addiction, our mission is to see the human behind the emergency. Because when we lead with curiosity, we create room for empathy — and that’s where real healing begins.

🚨 HEAT ALERT - STAY SAFE POPE COUNTY! ☀️

Pope County is experiencing extremely high heat index values, and current forecasts show that this dangerous heat is expected to continue through the rest of this week and into next week — or longer.

With temperatures soaring, the risk for heat-related illnesses like heat exhaustion and heat stroke is greatly increased.

Please take precautions if you must be outside — especially children, the elderly, and those with chronic illnesses. Drink plenty of water, wear light clothing, and take breaks in the shade or indoors.

🔥 Know the signs of heat-related illness:

☀️ Heat Exhaustion:

Heavy sweating

Weakness or fatigue

Dizziness or fainting

Nausea or vomiting

Cool, pale, clammy skin

Fast, weak pulse

Muscle cramps

🚨 Heat Stroke (Medical Emergency):

High body temperature (103°F or higher)

Hot, red, dry or damp skin

Confusion or altered mental state

Slurred speech

Seizures

Loss of consciousness

Rapid, strong pulse

If you suspect heat stroke, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY – this is a life-threatening emergency.

Let’s look out for one another. Check on neighbors, keep pets hydrated, and never leave children or animals in vehicles — even for a short time.

Stay safe,
Pope County EMS

🚁 Landing Zone Training with Survival Flight 7 🚨

Pope County EMS had the privilege of hosting Survival Flight 7 for a comprehensive Landing Zone (LZ) training class. As part of the demonstration, a helicopter landing was conducted, providing a valuable hands-on learning experience.

We were also proud to have the Russellville Fire Department join us for this important training. Collaborations like these are vital to ensuring safe, efficient, and coordinated emergency responses in our region.

It’s always inspiring to see local agencies working together with a shared commitment to providing the highest level of care and safety for our community.
