Today, we honor Paramedic Kevin Wolfe, who has officially started the final 24 hours of his EMS career after 10 years of dedicated service on the truck.

Kevin has served this community in more ways than most ever will—1.5 years as a 911 dispatcher, 13 years with Crow Mountain Fire Department, 9 years on EMS Rescue, and over a year as a part-time officer with the Pottsville Police Department. His commitment to helping others has never wavered, no matter the uniform he wears.

While we’re sad to see him close this chapter, we’re incredibly proud of the path ahead as he moves toward becoming a full-time officer with the Pottsville Police Department. Don’t worry though, Kevin will be on the truck part time to continue helping the community in EMS. Our community is safer and stronger because of people like him.

Thank you, Kevin, for your years of sacrifice, compassion, and service. You will always be part of the Pope County EMS family.

This week, on our Employee Spotlight we're shining the spotlight on Corey Pintado from the PCEMS Rescue team! Corey brings a unique skill set and a huge heart for service to our department and Pope County.

Corey is the proud owner of Tree Wise Tree Guys, a local business specializing in climbing and rigging out trees in hard to access areas.

Corey started with PCEMS Rescue in February of 2024, so he’s approaching his two-year anniversary!

With a background in rock and tree climbing, high angle and rope rescue operations were a natural fit for Corey. He’s been able to use these skills regularly with the Rescue team. Since joining, he’s also discovered a passion for all areas of rescue, including rough terrain situations and auto extrication.

Corey believes one of the greatest things humans can do is serve others. "When we respond to a call for service, chances are someone is having the worst day of their life. We get to come in and serve those people... and attempt to make the darkness they’re experiencing a little brighter."

The extensive training! Corey is impressed by the amount of quality training the team receives to prepare for the wide range of situations they encounter. For every hour spent on calls, countless hours are spent training behind the scenes.

When he's not at one of his kids' ball games or practices, you can find Corey on the golf course, getting in a little quiet time that is, until the pager goes off!

Seeing people in need has filled Corey with compassion and a motivation to help. He says spending enough time serving those in need gives you "a posture for kindness and compassion to others in all areas of your life." He also credits the phenomenal Rescue team for calling him to be a better person.
Corey has a massive respect for the work of all the EMTs and Paramedics at PCEMS and is proud to be part of such a dedicated team.

Thank you, Corey, for your service and commitment to Pope County!

On this weeks Employee Spotlight,

Meet Dillon Pearson, one of our dedicated EMT’s (soon to be paramedic) at Pope County EMS!

Dillon has been a vital part of our B shift team for four years total, three years full time and one year part time and is currently four months into paramedic school!

Interestingly, Dillon didn't always plan on a medical career. The journey began at a National Guard recruiting office when he was asked if he wanted to be a combat medic. "I thought it sounded cool," he says, "and the training gave me an EMT license I could fall back on." It wasn't until Advanced Individual Training (AIT), learning front line medicine, that he truly found his passion and knew this was the path for him.

One thing people might find surprising about EMS work is that "we don't just run emergency calls," Dillon shares. "We take transfers from various hospitals and try to be involved in our communities."

Working at Pope County EMS has been transformative. Dillon feels it has changed him for the better by helping him "come out of my shell more and realize the capabilities that I have for myself."

The company values that resonate most deeply are the quality of patient care and loyalty. Dillon strives to treat every patient with the "utmost respect and dignity" while being a reliable source of support for colleagues and the community.

Outside of work, Dillon enjoys spending time with family, going to the gym, and hunting.
His advice for newcomers to EMT or paramedic school? "Enjoy it and learn, but do not get burnt out. Take your breaks. Take the days off from work; spend time with your family and hobbies that you enjoy."

Thank you, Dillon, for your dedication to your team and the people of Pope County!

At Pope County EMS, our people are our greatest asset. That's why we're thrilled to relaunch our employee spotlight series! Join us as we take you behind the scenes and introduce you to the dedicated individuals who embody our values.

This week on the Pope County EMS spotlight, we are featuring EMT and Paramedic student, Brooke Chenowith! Brooke has been with Pope County EMS for two years, and has been enrolled in the Paramedic program at UAPTC for three months.

When asked what inspired her to join the medical field, particularly EMS, she said, “Working in EMS and being the first one on scene is both rewarding and challenging. But that’s what I love about the job. Every call is unique and you encounter a wide variety of situations. EMS work is fast paced and unpredictable, and after doing clinicals in EMT school, I knew EMS is what I wanted to do.”

In the world of medicine and emergency services, you are likely to find a family atmosphere. We asked Brooke what she loved most about working at Pope County EMS, and she said, “The people, 100%. I’ve never met a group of people like the ones I work with. They truly are family and they push me to be a better person, EMT, and one day, Paramedic. I wouldn’t be able to get through this job without them.“

Brooke has a very busy schedule but still makes time for what matters most. We asked what she enjoys doing in her limited time away from EMS. She said, “During my free time, I love to spend time with my family and my puppies! They are the most important thing to me and I’m beyond thankful for them!“

Brooke exemplifies the professionalism and dedication that we value at Pope County EMS. Her contributions are instrumental to our success, and we are proud to recognize her as this week's featured employee.
