This is the future trend for physical therapy…
For musculoskeletal problems, PTs are becoming primary care options and why not?
PTs have vast education on the musculoskeletal system and spend every day in the outpatient clinic working to make the musculoskeletal system work properly.
In the future, PTs would be the first option for those who have back pain, knee pain, etc.
PCPs have plenty on their plate already, so this is good for the entire healthcare system.
Utah just made history as the first state to pass legislation for physical therapists to be recognized as primary care providers!
Thanks to the steadfast advocacy of APTA Utah, PTs will soon serve as primary care providers for neuromusculoskeletal conditions. This change in designation empowers PTs to practice at the top of their licensure — advancing patient care and the physical therapy profession into the future.
